Best Horror Movies On Hulu And For Free — ‘Vacancy,’ ‘Devil’s Rejects,’ And More

Some of the best horror movies are not only on Hulu, but there are plenty of other companies offering HD horror movies for free (and legally). There are plenty of sites that illegally stream movies but all ethics aside, the quality is usually poor. In addition, many of these sites can’t be trusted as you never know what gifts they may leave behind on your computer. Horror enthusiasts are often searching for a hidden gem or a classic movie to revisit; this list offers both.

The Den

The Den is one of the best independent horror movies on Hulu. This flick gets bonus points by utilizing modern technology as the platform to deliver this unique tale.

Saw VI

Though not as good as the first two, Saw VI is a vast improvement from the other installments. Jigsaw has become a modern day horror icon, and fans will gain some insight to his madness.

Saw: The Final Chapter

For those looking for some quick thrills and gore, this movie is for you. Don’t be fooled by the title however, Saw is returning for its eighth installment in 2017.

Borderland

What happens when three college students travel to a Mexican border town to party? Well, they get kidnapped for a satanic ritual of course. Borderland is one of the most popular horror movies on Hulu, and it’s based (very loosely) on a true story.

Rosemary’s Baby

This classic tale is an absolute masterpiece and it is Roman Polanski’s magnum opus. Rosemary’s Baby scored a stunning 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and the site’s Critics Consensus explains why this is one of the best horror movies on Hulu.

“A frightening tale of Satanism and pregnancy that is even more disturbing than it sounds thanks to convincing and committed performances by Mia Farrow and Ruth Gordon.”

The Others

The Others is one of the more unique horror movies available on Hulu. Nicole Kidman delivers an excellent performance in this chilling ghost story.

American Psycho

American Psycho is a perfect blend of dark comedy, ’80s pop culture, symbolism, gore, and of course, horror. It’s also amusing to see Christian Bale murdering Jared Leto since they would eventually portray Batman and Joker in other movies.

The House of the Devil

The House of the Devil is not nearly mentioned enough when discussing horror flicks. This tale ditches blood and gore, but provides a slow burn story to pure terror. The late Roger Ebert explains why this is one of the best horror movies on Hulu.

The House of the Devil has been made almost by hand by Ti West, who wrote, directed and edited the movie. He’s an admirer of classic horror films and understands that if there’s anything scarier than haunted house, it’s a possibly haunted house. The film may provide an introduction for some audience members to the Hitchcockian definition of suspense: It’s the anticipation, not the happening, that’s the fun.”

Horror Movies Streaming For Free

Crackle has a small, but decent, collection of horror movies and they’re all streaming for free. The downside is, they do have commercials throughout the film. On the upside, they are brief and not too frequent. Included in their list of their best horror movies are Vacancy, Idle Hands, Sinister, and Insidious.

Break.com has a decent range of movies and many of them are horror. Their biggest hit listed right now is well worth the visit: An American Werewolf in London.

Shudder is a dream come true for horror movie fans as the site offers a massive collection of horror films. Shudder does charge but they offer a seven day free trial, and then it’s only $4.99 a month. For those who are Amazon Prime members, Shudder has an extension that you can add to your service with the same offer. Currently, they are offering horror hits like Halloween II, The Devil’s Rejects, Wishmaster, The Reef, and The Collector. They also have a variety of horror-comedy movies like Murder Party, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, and Blood Punch.
