Nina Dobrev Wanted To Date Paul Wesley?

Vampire Diaries beauty Nina Dobrev was once in a happy relationship with her co-star Ian Somerhalder. The actress previously talked about her relationship with Somerhalder and her could-have-been relationship with Paul Wesley.

During her conversation with Teen Vogue, Dobrev neither confirmed not denying her relationship with Somerhalder but stated that it is very common for two people to date if they are working together.

“If I wasn’t dating Ian, I’d be dating Paul. A lot of people who work together end up dating, so it wouldn’t be unusual, but I’ve never dated anyone I’ve worked with.”

When it comes to her personal life, this was not for the first time she talked about Somerhalder and Wesley. In her earlier interview with MTV News, Dobrev narrated the incident when she first met Paul.

“The first time Paul and I met, I met nine other guys as well because I had already been cast and they were deciding for the Stefan role,” she recalled. “I had to read with like 30 studio executives, and they were just kind of watching and analyzing because that was the whole point of the test… they wanted to see who had the best chemistry. And everyone was great, but Paul had this old soul, like a history that you could feel… he seemed like he’d been around longer, and knew more, and he had a grasp for the character different from anyone else.”

In the interview, she revealed her true feelings for both of her co-stars.

Dobrev stated that Paul is one of the Vampire Diaries stars who takes his job very seriously. On the other hand, Ian is a prankster and loves to lighten up the mood.

“He [Ian] has the best stories, because he has just experienced so much, and he’s been on so many cool sets and movies. We love each other’s company.”

Nina Dobrev’s growing friendship with Wesley was the reason behind her split with Somerhalder?

In her earlier interview, Dobrev talked about her split with Somerhalder, and it had nothing to do with her friendship with Wesley.

In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Bulgarian beauty stated that there is no particular reason behind their split and somehow things did not work out for them.

“I’ve said this before, that we didn’t break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn’t love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he’s great and I care about him. And that didn’t change. Yes, we’re professional and that’s fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.”

After their breakup, there were many speculations that there is a bad blood between Nina and Ian. But the actress openly stated that even after their split, she has tried to maintain a healthy relationship with him. Even Ian shared a super cute detail of their relationship.

“She always lets me have the last fry,” he said in one of his interviews.

How cute is that? It is definitely unusual for an ex to chime in on an interview like that, but it also confirmed that the former couple once shared a special and unique relationship.

However, a recent report suggests that Somerhalder is not pleased by The CW’s decision to bring Nina back to the show.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Somerhalder does not wish for Dobrev’s return as Elena Gilbert, as there are chances that their reunion on the show will jeopardize his married life.

Neither the CW’s spokesperson nor Vampire Diaries producers have confirmed whether Nina Dobrev is returning as Elena Gilbert in Season 8. If she returns, fans of the supernatural series will be pleased to see her sharing the screen with Ian Somerhalder.
