‘American Horror Story’ Spoilers: What We Know About Ultra Secretive Season 6

American Horror Story Season 6 spoilers have been few and far between leading up to tonight’s premiere of the hit FX anthology series. Despite many predictions, fans still have no idea what the theme will be. Several AHS cast members have confirmed their return, including a few fan favorites, but no one is talking about their characters or the plot.

Ryan Murphy has previously hinted that many of the Season 6 teasers for AHS are just misdirections. That said, he also hinted that one of those teasers is the real deal, but there’s really no way to know which one is the real American Horror Story Season 6 spoiler.

Recently, Stephanie Gibbons, the head of marketing for FX, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming Season 6. While she was careful to keep the theme a secret, Gibbons did reveal a couple of American Horror Story spoilers that will have fans talking up to and through the premiere. She talked about just how many teasers have been released as we approach the start of Season 6, as well as how many of them are real and how many are misdirects. It turns out, Ryan Murphy wasn’t joking, and despite putting out one real AHS teaser, there are many, many misdirects meant to keep spoiler hunters guessing.

“There are 24 teasers. Then there’s the anthology spot that brings it all together, as well as the other anthology spot which we released with Lady Gaga’s single, ‘Perfect Illusion,'” Gibbons confessed. “There are also 17 different print finishes, so the outdoor and the print campaign mirror. And then there are another eight teasers that are social-based only.”

Gibbons also said that beyond not releasing any details of the current AHS theme, they have also done something else that is unprecedented for the FX hit. Even though some of the cast has confirmed that they will be joining Season 6, that may also be a misdirect. American Horror Story and FX have not officially confirmed the return of any of their stars, so until the premiere episode runs, no one knows who will actually star in AHS this season or what it will be about at all. All we know is that all the seasons are somehow connected and that it will take place somewhere in America as Ryan Murphy has promised in previous years.

One thing that has been promised is that fans will understand the theme and where Season 6 is headed once the premiere has aired. While there has been a lot of mystery surrounding the upcoming season as FX leads up to the premiere night, Gibbons claims that it will all make sense once we actually see the first episode. She talked about the number six and its significance to the horror genre. That alone is part of the American Horror Story spoilers mystery, but we have been assured that it will all be cleared up soon.

“After all the breadcrumbs, you are definitely going to get the sandwich. There’s no bait and switch here. It was about celebrating the building and worshiping the anticipation.”

As for the previous American Horror Story stars who are said to be returning, E! Online reported that many have confirmed their return themselves even though the network has yet to make any of it official. Angela Bassett was even confirmed to return by Ryan Murphy, who said at the Golden Globes in January that she would be back. He also made it clear at PaleyFest just months later that anyone on the panel would be invited to join the cast.

Denis O’Hare said during the Dallas Walker Stalker convention that he would definitely be back if they would have him. He was at PaleyFest on the panel when Murphy said they were welcome back, so fans of AHS should expect his return.

When Lady Gaga initially signed on, it was reported that she would be around for multiple seasons. Despite none of the cast being officially confirmed, it’s pretty safe to say that she will be back.

In March, Gaga even tweeted out confirmation that she would be back but followed with a disclaimer that said, “I can’t promise you how or when, or anything like that.”

Sarah Paulson also confirmed that she is coming back to American Horror Story for Season 6. She said at the Television Critics’ Association summer press tour that she would be returning to the hit FX show.

Another longtime AHS cast member, Evan Peters, also confirmed that he was returning for Season 6. He even said in a few recent interviews that his current red hairstyle is all part of the new season. His on-again, off-again girlfriend, Emma Roberts, also said she wants to be on the show again this season. Considering the reports that the pair has mended their broken relationship, some fans are assuming they did it while filming episodes of American Horror Story.

Another little American Horror Story spoiler that has been shared relates to the time period Season 6 is set in. FX CEO John Landgraf revealed that the upcoming season will take place in the present day but would have “echoes of the past.” With no idea what the theme is or how the puzzle all fits together, it’s hard to imagine how this is going to work. There may be flashbacks, memories, or maybe just a bit of storytelling.

There is still so much left unknown about Season 6, and the lack of American Horror Story spoilers has left many fans frustrated and ready to get the mystery out of the way. After tonight, it’s all over, and many will be able to enjoy the horror aspect of one of the best shows on TV.
