Nina Dobrev On Ian Somerhalder: ‘He Is Very Exciting’
The Vampire Diaries starlet Nina Dobrev is gearing up to reprise her role of Elena Gilbert in Season 8 Episode 16. There have been so many rumors about her return to the show and how it is going to affect Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed’s married life.
During her earlier interview with MTV, Dobrev revealed her true feelings for Somerhalder and stated that they both enjoy each other’s company.
“Ian’s the prankster, the jokester. He makes light of every moment, and he’s very exciting and cool. He has the best stories because he has just experienced so much, and he’s been on so many cool sets and movies. We love each other’s company.”
When it was asked if she will ever consider dating Somerhalder, the actress simply stated that dating a co-star complicates everything and she does not wish to get involved with anyone at this moment.
“There’s a lot of vanity involved. And they’re in their head, and they’re kind of crazy. And you’re always surrounded by beautiful people. I would prefer not to date an actor,” she further stated.
However, things did change for her when she started dating Somerhalder in 2010.
Their off-screen romance boosted the ratings of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries but everything changed drastically when the Bulgarian starlet and Lost star parted ways in 2013.
After their breakup, the actor started dating Twilight beauty Nikki Reed and married her on April 26, 2015, in California. When Dobrev heard the news about the marriage, she told Entertainment Weekly that there is no bad blood between her and Somerhalder and she is very happy for his marriage.
“When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy and so I don’t see why there should be a problem with that.”
The xXx: Return of Xander Cage actress further stated that even after their breakup, she is still very close to him and respects his decision of moving on with Reed.
“I’ve said this before, that we didn’t break up because anything bad happened or because there wasn’t love or friendship. I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he’s great and I care about him. And that didn’t change. Yes, we’re professional and that’s fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now.”
In spite of that, there are many rumors swirling over Somerhalder and Reed’s marriage life. Many publications claim that Reed feels threatened by the possibility that, if her husband and Dobrev will be reunited on the show, they would reignite their lost love.
On the contrary to that, Hollywood Life reported that there is no marital argument between them and if The CW will manage to bring Dobrev back to the show, then the married couple will accept it as a part of their job.
“Nikki and Ian are so in love. There’s nothing he could possibly do to upset her. The idea of Ian and Nina reuniting on screen for The Vampire Diaries doesn’t bother her one bit. She has no issues with this whatsoever.”
There is still no formal announcement by The CW or Nina Dobrev’s representatives that she will be returning to The Vampire Diaries Season 8. However, The CW’s executive producer Mark Pedowitz recently confirmed that the network is in talks to bring her back.
“We backed Julie [Plec] in her decision … there are discussions going on with Nina, we’d love to have her back … These are discussions that go on, hopefully, she’ll be back, but should it not work out, Julie has planned out a great series finale for fans.”
The Vampire Diaries Season 8 will air on October 21 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
