Maria Sharapova Expects Net Worth To Soar After Tennis Ban Appeal Ruling In October 2016

Maria Sharapova is on the edge of the seat as she waits for the news that will hopefully put her back in professional tennis. The Russian player was banned from playing when she tested positive for a banned substance, and since then, she has seen her net worth plummet. However, when she hears the ruling on her appeal of the ban in October 2016, she might be back on the court before anyone realizes!

One thing that may have kept her going was her rumored model boyfriend, Andres Velencoso. However, he has not been seen on her Instagram or Twitter. Maybe the 29-year-old tennis player wants to keep her personal life private until after she gets the news about her status.

Since there are only a few weeks left until October, Maria Sharapova is crossing her fingers and taking deep breaths.

“Maria Sharapova will find out in the first week of October if her two-year doping ban will be overturned, says the Court of Arbitration for Sport,” according to BBC. “The five-time Grand Slam winner was banned by the International Tennis Federation after testing positive for meldonium at the 2016 Australian Open. The Russian, 29, who said she had been taking the drug since 2006 for health problems, appealed against the ban.”

She has been fighting for an appeal ever since she received the ban from professional tennis.

“I cannot accept an unfairly harsh two-year suspension,” Maria wrote on her Facebook page when she first received her suspension. “The tribunal, whose members were selected by the ITF, agreed that I did not do anything intentionally wrong, yet they seek to keep me from playing tennis for two years. I will immediately appeal the suspension portion of this ruling to CAS, the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

It has not been a steady path to getting an appeal, though. She wanted to expedite it in time for Rio Olympics, but a delay caused her to forego the chance for a gold medal.

“A ruling on Maria Sharapova’s appeal of her two-year doping ban has been postponed until September, ruling her definitively out of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro,” reported the New York Times. “The Court of Arbitration for Sport said that Sharapova and the International Tennis Federation had agreed to defer the decision, which had been expected to be issued by next Monday.”

This means that the Russian hopes to be competing in Tokyo Olympics for sure!

Until then, the 29-year-old tennis player is making sure that her net worth and fitness are both in tip-top shape. Because of doping, she has lost many of the sponsors that made sure her net worth was sky high. To make sure that profits keep rolling through her door, she has been developing her candy business.

Targeting the sugar-starved fashion industry girls with colorful jellies and candies was a genius idea on Maria’s part.

The Russian has also been training religiously. She also has been posting about it regularly on Instagram and Twitter to make sure the public knows that she has not yet thrown in the towel.

Before she received the news that she has been banned from playing professional tennis for two years, Maria Sharapova had the highest net worth of all female athletes. Right now, Serena is dominating the scene despite the fact that she has fallen in her rankings. If the 29-year-old player gets back on the scene, there is no telling what will happen in women’s tennis.

Meanwhile, during her time off, Maria has been rumored to be seeing the Spanish model, Andres Velencoso.

“Maria Sharapova and the Spanish model Andrés Velencoso were in Paris for marketing reasons (Masha for her candy brand, Sugarpova), and decided to spend a little time together,” reports Tennis World USA.. “Velencoso split with the 26-year old actor Ursula Corberò at the end of 2015, while Masha split with Dimitrov almost a year ago.”
