Why Tom Cruise Is Paying $400,000 To Katie Holmes?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ post-married life has generated quite a buzz over different rumors and speculation. Now, a recent report allegedly suggests that Suri’s mother is getting a substantial amount from her ex-husband.

In April 2005, Cruise began dating Holmes, and on November 18, 2006, they were married at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy. Their married life was highly covered by the media because of Church of Scientology’s involvement in their personal life.

It was reported by CNN in mid-July 2012 that the couple was heading for divorce.

An attorney stated that the A-listed couple had amicably settled for divorce just two weeks after Holmes filed for it. Although, the details of their agreement have never made public, it was stated that the former couple wanted what was best for their daughter.

The former couple prepared a joint statement that addressed their concerns as parents and how they planned to make it work for Suri.

“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests,” the statement said. “We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”

Now, one report suggests that the Top Gun actor has been paying, not a lump sum, but a substantial amount, to Katie for their daughter.

According to Gawker via Nicki Swift, as per a prenuptial agreement between Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, the actress will receive approximately $400,000 per year, plus educational and medical expenses for Suri until she is 18.

Along with this prenuptial agreement, reports that suggests that Katie Holmes cannot go public with her alleged romance with Jamie Foxx or any other man.

According to Radar Online, the Dawson’s Creek actress can’t publicly date anyone until 2017 per her divorce agreement with Tom Cruise.

“Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce,” an insider told the outlet.

Having said that, the alleged clause does not stop her from going out with her male friends. It does, however, stop her officially acknowledging her relationship with anyone.

“She’s allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she’s not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri,” the source further explained. “Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms – and got $4.8 million in child support, plus another $5 million for herself.”

Gossip Cop, however, debunked all these claims.

Furthermore, even Holmes has always denied her involvement with any other man after her publicized divorce with Mission Impossible star.

According to Enstarz, during her conversation with More Magazine, the Mummy actress talked about her dating life and how, after the divorce, she is trying to do experiments with her life. Suri’s mother also addressed those mistakes which she made in past and how she is not worried anymore.

“That’s not something I want to answer… [I don’t] have a five or 10-year plan. I feel like I’m still a teenager in a lot of ways. I do a lot of things I did then. I paint, I color. I cook sometimes. I still feel like a girl. I don’t quite feel like a woman, maybe because I’m the baby of my family. I’ll probably be 90 and feel like, ‘Not a woman yet!’ Ha!”

Having said that, even Tom Cruise is not linked with any female after his split with Katie Holmes. Does it mean that the same clause applies to him as well? Well, we can only speculate as there has been no confirmation from their representatives on the recent claims.
