Britney Spears Addresses Her ‘Weird Anxiety’ Once Again

Britney Spears is gracing the cover of Flaunt magazine, in which she poses in front of a religious statue. The editorial shoot is kind of dark and Gothic, which is a departure for the sassy and sexy pop star.

Britney Spears is also dishing more about her anxiety in the accompanying interview. The singer opened up to Flaunt magazine about how much she’s changed since 2007. Spears, 34, admitted that she doesn’t go out much and would rather stay at home and smoke cigarettes.

“I think with a lot of things in the past, I didn’t have security. I didn’t have the guidelines that I have now, which are brilliant. I’m very close to my security team. I have kids now too, so everything is on a way lower scale. I’m actually a very boring person. I don’t go out. I don’t really do anything. I should be Mother Mary, seriously. I think my life has done a complete 360. Things are just different now. It’s a different time. It’s a different era.”

Britney also admitted that she’s a “weird, anxiety-ridden” person these days, reports E! Online. She tries to avoid crowds as much as she can, even though she’s still performing at her ongoing residency in Las Vegas. Britney says that she would rather avoid the club and party scene these days.

“Oh, I’m so weird,” she said. “I get nervous in a lot of situations. Parties, clubs. When there are a lot of people around, I’m a weird, anxiety-ridden person.”

Spears last addressed her anxiety when she graced the cover of Marie Claire U.K.’s October 2016 issue. The “Make Me” singer looked recognizably different on the cover and the photo shoot. But, inside the magazine, Spears was willing to open up more about the anxiety that has plagued her ever since she was a little girl, reports Billboard.

“If a hair was out of place, I’d be so anxious. I would get very anxious about so many things.”

After Britney went through her infamous breakdown back in 2007, she started to overcome her mental disorder by taking time out of the spotlight to focus on her sons, Jayden, 9, and Sean Preston, 10. Since then, Britney has had a complete image overhaul as she focused on herself and her growth.

“Becoming a mother and being with my boys has made me so much more accepting of myself,” Spears said. “I’m their mom, whatever. That has been a really big thing for me over these last few years.”

After her eighth studio release, Britney Jean, failed to top the charts or attract much attention with critics, Spears focused on her residency in Las Vegas, which has had its share of rave reviews and record ticket sales, reports the Hollywood Gossip. Spears’s Piece Of Me show has since been extended into 2017.

Spears has since returned with her ninth studio album, Glory, that music critics have been raving about for weeks. Some would call it the perfect complement to her previous releases, Circus, Blackout, and In The Zone. Spears even returned to the VMAs stage on Aug. 28, nearly a decade after her disastrous 2007 performance.

Britney was alive and alert this time around even though she was panned for lip-syncing and not having much energy during her performance. There was also that almost kiss that happened between Britney and G-Eazy, which confused fans.

It also didn’t help that she was outshined by Beyonce, who performed right before the legendary pop star. Although Spears has clearly been through a lot in her life, it’s obvious that she’s back and better than ever. Read the rest of Spears’ cover story for Flaunt magazine here.
