Min: K-Pop Idol Of Miss A Confirmed For A Role In Crime Thriller K-Movie ‘Soon Yi’ Alongside Kim In Kwon And Lee Chae Eun

For most of the year, 2016 has been very hectic for popular JYP Entertainment K-pop girl group Miss A. Pertaining to the group in general, their last comeback was back in March of 2015 with an extended play (EP), a mini-album titled Colors. Its title song “Only You” was a No. 1 hit and even achieved both an All-Kill and Perfect All-Kill on the Korean music charts. Since then, there has been no news on Miss A having a comeback for this year.

There is news pertaining to Miss A this year, but most of it is of a negative nature. For starters, when Miss A had to renew their contracts, Jia (who was technically one of the original three members) decided not to renew. This action would effectively end not just her tenure with Miss A, but her professional relationship with JYP Entertainment. As for the solo careers of the remaining Miss A members, Suzy (better known as Bae Suzy in K-dramas) is getting a lot of criticism for her acting as the female lead character No Eul in Uncontrollably Fond. As a matter of fact, it is argued among Korean netizens her criticized acting is the reason why Uncontrollably Fond has dropped so low in viewership ratings.

Thankfully, not all news pertaining to Miss A is negative. For starters, Suzy’s duet with Baekhyun of EXO titled “Dream” was the first song to achieve an All-Kill and Perfect All-Kill this year. Also, Min teamed up with Jo Kwon of 2AM and Hyoyeon of Girls’ Generation to form a new unit called Triple T to perform the song “Born To Be Wild.” And now there is more good news pertaining to Min as she will have a role in an upcoming K-movie titled Soon Yi opposite Kim In Kwon and Lee Chae Eun.

The role that Lee Min Young — better known as Min of Miss A — would take in the crime thriller Soon Yi was recently confirmed, as reported by AllKpop. Min will be joining a stellar K-movie and K-drama cast which includes Kim In Kwon (The Divine Move, Tazza: The Hidden Card) and Lee Chae Eun (Veteran, Office).

Soon Yi is a film that will follow a series of horrific serial murders that occur in a small village in the mountains and a detective’s pursuit of the murders’ suspect. What makes the plot unique is the said murder suspect is a little girl named Soon Yi. When the detective meets her, mysterious things start to happen. As for the film itself, it is based on actual occurrences of child abuse and aims to instill fear arising from deep grudges children who are abused may harbor.

As for Min’s role, she will play Soo Ja, the daughter of Soon Yi’s stepmother who abuses Soon Yi due to her insatiable greed for money. Nothing else is known about Min’s character besides that little tidbit as of right now.
