Mariah Carey Talks New Music And Wedding Plans, Blindfolds Mario Lopez

So the day has finally arrived. After years of simply listening to Mariah Carey’s biggest hits on repeat, the diva has finally shared with Extra‘s Mario Lopez that she is working on new Music! The reporter for the celebrity news show got a VIP experience when he was blindfolded and made part of Carey’s Vegas show No. 1 to Infinity at Caesars Palace.

During the concert, Lopez was brought onstage by Carey and led to a bed blindfolded during a performance of the song “Touch My Body,” as the Daily Mail relayed. Following the show, the superstar spoke with Lopez and thanked him for being such a good sport.

“I have to thank you, first of all, because you were such a good sport to come up on the stage. Everybody, they couldn’t believe when they saw you … It was a really good moment and the fans I’m sure appreciated to see you there.”

While thanking the former Saved By the Bell actor, she also added that fans could look forward to new music in the near future.

“Being back in the studio, which I am — right now I’m making new music and getting ready to go on a Latin American tour.”

In true Mariah form, the star noted that she would be focusing on promoting her new music in due time.

“Get these new songs out and get on the road and reveal them darling, have a reveal.”

There have also been rumors that Carey is planning to team up with the Weeknd on a future track. Mariah did not deny this and even chatted about how talented she believes the performer is.

“It’s not planned out yet, I know he’s doing a lot right now. We had a really good conversation and we’ll see. I think he’s a really talented artist.”

When it comes to her love life, the Grammy winner shares that she couldn’t be happier with that aspect of her days. Although she shied away from divulging any plans for the engaged couple’s upcoming nuptials, she did put any rumors about troubles in the relationship to rest in her reply to the reporter.

“I’m very happy. I’m very happy with that aspect of my life… that I’m trying to keep a little more private than the rest of them.”

Mariah and her billionaire man James Packer became engaged back in January, and speculation began brewing that the two would have a summer wedding. The summer is nearly through, and there has been no sign of any planning in the works. The diva did, however, speak of being fitted for a wedding dress earlier this year while she completed a leg of her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour. Since then, nothing has surfaced regarding dates and additional details. The word was that the star is quite busy through to the end of 2016, thereby causing the wedding date to be bumped into 2017. Regardless of when it will occur, we all know it will be one lavish event.

One project that is keeping Carey busy involves her upcoming reality television show Mariah’s World. Although the singer is not ready to share about her love life, fans can certainly get a peek into the life of the superstar on the eight- part series that will air on E! Carey spoke about how it’s not entirely reality, in her opinion, and that she has maintained a say as to what stays in the footage and what gets cut, so not to have any boring or meaningless clips in the program.

“We have to go through all the footage so we’re going to see what’s boring as hell and what’s hopefully decent and good and [will] leave you laughing.”
