‘The Walking Dead’ Fans Won’t Believe What Prop Norman Reedus Kept From The AMC Set

The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus made a decision to hang on to what fans can only describe as a very strange prop from the AMC set. On Friday, Norman shared a picture on his Instagram account of a room which appeared to have a NSFW Pink Panther blow-up doll and a zombie head prop from the show. Because the picture is NSFW it cannot be displayed on this story, however, you can view the picture – with caution – on Norman’s Instagram account. International Business Times reports this isn’t just any zombie head prop from the set of The Walking Dead. The head in the picture appears to be the mold made from actor Johnny Depp’s head.

Dedicated Walking Dead fans will recall this Johnny Depp zombie head prop being used during Season 6, Episode 12. During this episode, Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) group was in the process of hatching a plan dedicated to helping the Hilltop Community in response to the community’s leader Gregory (Xander Berkeley) being threatened by the Saviors.

Even though Rick’s group had only just met the other survivors, they did not hesitate to agree to help them with the problem in exchange for supplies and food. In order to trick the Saviors into thinking the leader was dead, the group hunted for walkers who looked similar to the Hilltop leader. They ended up bringing back three different zombie heads and Jesus (Tom Payne) assisted in choosing which head would work best to convince the Saviors that Gregory was dead.

“I think we had sculpted an emaciated version of a dummy head for something and we used Johnny Depp’s head as a basis just for a clay sculpt,” says Nicotero, according to Comic Book. “I think one of the funniest moments we’ve shot in the season is when the Savior sticks his hand inside the head and puppeteers it to start talking. I laughed so hard when we shot that scene.”

According to director Greg Nicotero, Norman Reedus did not waste any time claiming the zombie head props as his own once they were completed. According to the director, Norman was a bit of a broken record telling him that he wanted the heads when they were finished using them as a prop on set.

Walking Dead fans agree the choice Norman Reedus made to include the NSFW Pink Panther blow up doll in the picture he shared on Instagram with the Johnny Depp zombie head certainly took some of the attention away from the zombie head prop. The combination of these two pieces in the same picture, however, have made for quite the conversation starter.

Comments on the picture Norman Reedus shared on his Instagram are pretty mixed in terms of who is choosing to talk about the blow-up doll and who is choosing to talk about the zombie head. Several Norman Reedus fans have also commented on the fact that this picture he decided to share just confirms how truly weird he is as a person.

“Good Lord what are you up to Norman??!!!” One commenter questioned on the picture.

Strange, random, odd, and weird were other words used to describe Normal and his zombie and blow up doll picture.

The comments on the picture suggest Walking Dead– or at least Norman Reedus fans – have a similar sense of humor to Reedus as there does not appear to be any comments shaming him for his decision to share this picture on Instagram.

What do you think about Norman Reedus wanting to keep the zombie heads after they finished using them during Season 6, Episode 12 of The Walking Dead? More importantly, what do you think about the picture Reedus shared on Instagram?
