Fans can watch the Nigeria vs. Tanzania football match live online, and see if the teams already out of the running for the Africa Cup of Nations can make the most out of what will be a tune-up for World Cup qualifiers.
The countries will meet on Saturday in a match at 5 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET). There will not be much on the line for either team, as Egypt has already wrapped up Group G, while Nigeria is behind in second place and Tanzania in third.
But there are some very important matches starting in October, giving Saturday’s match a greater sense of urgency as the teams look to get up to form. Those who watch the Nigeria vs. Tanzania football match live online will also see if the Super Eagles can shine under the watch of new coach Gernot Rohr.
“The match on Saturday is important though we are not going to the 2017 AFCON. We must show everybody that the motivation is there,” Rorh said via SuperSport. “All the players are fighting and giving their best and have to play together in order to prepare for the next important game, which is the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 qualifier against Zambia (in October).”

Rohr himself will be under quite a bit of pressure in the months that come, taking over a Nigerian program that had been in disarray with the financial problems of the Nigerian Football Federation. With plenty of pessimism surrounding the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, the German coach has a lot on his shoulders, ESPNFC noted.
But he has found success at previous posts and seems to have a way with the media, the report added.
“It may be all smiles now, but Rohr can be as sharp with the media as he can be accommodating.
“After claiming a win against Morocco in 2012, a Gabonese journalist asked him at the postmatch news conference why the team had not played better and won by a bigger margin.
“Rohr’s immediate response dripped thick sarcasm as he invited the reporter to join his coaching staff and offer tips to achieve better football and a bigger winning margin.”
Nigerian fans who watch Saturday’s match against Tanzania live online will also see if some of the momentum from the Dream Team’s successful run in the Rio Olympics can rub off on the Super Eagles. The Olympic squad advanced to the semifinals and ended up winning the bronze medal game, making Nigeria the first African nation to win gold, silver, and bronze medals in football.
Though the Olympic tournament is an Under 23 roster, there is some crossover between the national team and the Olympic squad — namely in captain Mikel Obi, who helped lead the Dream Team to bronze in Brazil.
As SuperSport noted, Mikel could now take a major role in leading the Nigerian team through the World Cup qualifying matches that start next month. That could make Saturday’s match an important opportunity for him and his teammates.
“Fresh from leading Nigeria to Olympic bronze, Mikel looks like a man reborn since he was handed the armband.
“Many players in the squad have gushed over his leadership qualities but the Chelsea man has more than that in his arsenal. It is expected that he will play a free role in the team under Rohr.”
The match may be the perfect opportunity for the Super Eagles to regain their footing and build some momentum toward the World Cup qualifying matches. The Nigerian team has not lost in their last seven matches against Tanzania, with four wins and three draws.
