Chicago Bears’ Fantasy Football Breakdown

Alshon Jeffery or Kevin White?

Which Chicago Bears‘ wide receiver is worth taking in fantasy football this season? What about a Bears’ running back? Should fantasy football owners target Jeremy Langford? If so, in which round?

Similar questions are being asked about other teams around the NFL. Some fantasy football leagues have already conducted their drafts, with others coming. And what every owner of a fantasy football team wants to know is who are the value players?

Entering into the final week of the NFL preseason, several people are getting in their last bit of homework for their fantasy football drafts. The obvious names of Antonio Brown, Adrian Peterson, and Todd Gurley will be taken well before the first-round ends in fantasy football drafts. Which Bears’ players should be taken, and where?

It is safe to say that none of the Bears’ players will be taken in the first-round. Alshon Jeffery might get a look in 12-player fantasy football leagues, but that is a stretch.

Jeffery is playing on a one-year tender offer of $14.6 million. That is what the Bears must pay him as a result of not agreeing to terms, courtesy of the Chicago Tribune, on a long-term deal. Alshon Jeffery wants substantial financial security, which will come with the Bears or somewhere else next season. In a perfect world, that is all the motivation he needs to be productive.

If you are in a basic fantasy football league with traditional scoring, Alshon Jeffery should fall no further than the third-round. In PPR (points per reception) leagues, he is a fourth-round choice. That is primarily due to the fact that the Chicago Bears are not a pass-happy team.

Also, some of Jeffery’s targets are guaranteed to go to Kevin White. The Bears want to know what they have in him before committing big money to Alshon Jeffrey. That said, pencil Jeffery in for 85 receptions, 1,150 yards, and nine touchdowns.

Kevin White: Rounds 5-10

Kevin White’s next NFL reception will be his first. Bears’ fans are anxious to see what he can do. The same can be said for fantasy football league owners. White has the speed to really break out, but how is his route-running coming along?

Guessing the answer to that will determine where he gets drafted. If you think that he will run crisp routes, then you should take him early. The fifth-round is about as far of a reach for him, given the fact that he is an unknown commodity. You should only choose to take him here if you already have a featured running back and top receiver in place.

Kevin White is an ideal play in the flex spot on a fantasy football team until he proves himself.

A solid prediction for White is 55 catches, 650 yards, and six touchdowns. For those who are in keeper fantasy football leagues, Kevin White is a perfect pick if he is available in the ninth-round, or later.

Jeremy Langford: Rounds 4-7

According NBC Sports, the Bears will employ the running back-by-committee approach this season. Bears’ head coach John Fox has traditionally used multiple backs throughout his coaching career. This will hurt fantasy football team owners who were considering Jeremy Langford. No one should be discouraged regardless of what Fox wants to do.

Langford will receive the bulk of the carries, but he will share the load with two or three running backs.

If you are an owner of Langford, or looking to own him, the hope is that he will improve at catching the football this season. Even though he will not receive all of the carries, the ability to catch the football will garner Langford more reps with the Bears. If that happens, Jeremy Langford will turn out to be a great value if he is not taken prior to the fourth-round.

Other Chicago Bears’ Fantasy Football Options

No one else on the Bears are worthy of a fantasy football draft pick higher than the 11th round. Jay Cutler is a strong play if you are in a league that starts two quarterbacks. Tight end Zach Miller would be a nice grab on waivers.

Also, keep an eye on the Bears’ defense. They could have a sneaky year. If the return game can get a boost, that will change how this unit is viewed.

As for future keepers, consider rookie Jordan Howard with the last pick. He could be a solid pick to stash away. Until the rest of the Chicago Bears’ roster is finalized, there is nothing else to consider drafting in your fantasy football league.
