Jon Gosselin’s Teen Daughters Set The Record Straight On Their Estrangement: ‘How Can He Dare To Talk About Us’?

Jon Gosselin has been doing a lot of talking about his bizarre child custody arrangement with his ex-wife Kate, but now his twin daughters are speaking out to give details on why they haven’t seen their DJ’ing dad for a while. While Jon has gone on record to say he doesn’t know why he only sees half of his eight kids on a regular basis, in a new interview with People magazine, Mady and Cara Gosselin, 15, share the real reason why they don’t talk to their dad Jon anymore.

“He makes it seem like we’re being kept from him, which is insane,” Mady Gosselin revealed.

“He should maybe spend some time thinking about why we don’t want to see him, and maybe realize that if he ever does want a relationship with us, talking about us on TV is not the way to make that happen. He doesn’t even know us. How can he dare to talk about us?”

Cara Gosselin was less forthcoming about her relationship with Jon, simply telling People, “I wouldn’t even know what to say about him.”

Earlier this month, Jon Gosselin told Entertainment Tonight that he had not seen all eight of his children together in at least three years, and he singled out Mady and Cara as two of his kids that he rarely sees. Gosselin added that he gets three or four of his kids every other weekend, and he never knows ahead of time which kids he will get.

After Jon and Kate Gosselin divorced in 2009, Kate received primary custody of their eight kids, Cara and Mady, now 15, and sextuplets, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel, now 12. And at first, his visitation included all eight kids. But in recent years, Jon has had a revolving door of Gosselin kids in and out of his house, with only Hannah, Leah, Joel, and Aaden visiting him regularly at this point.

“Everybody used to come to my house,” Jon told ET.

“It was great, and then Madelyn and Cara just stopped coming, around 12-13 [years old]. I didn’t question it. I was just like, ‘Hey, do what you want, be with your friends’ and then it just became they’re not coming. Madelyn and Cara, I don’t see that much, or often. We’re kind of not talking right now.”

Based on the Gosselin girls’ comments, it sounds like they haven’t seen their dad in a very long time, and Jon could be running out of time to develop a relationship with them before it’s too late.

“They’re moving into womanhood,” Jon told ET. “They’ll be 16 in October. I hope I can talk to them and develop a relationship in the future. But there’s a lot of stuff that has to go on before that.”

Earlier this year, Jon Gosselin told Yahoo Celebrity, he has no control over which of his eight kids he sees. Jon told Yahoo that he gets a weekly dinner night with his kids and that some of them stay over at his house every other weekend. In one of this most shocking allegations, Jon Gosselin revealed that he hadn’t seen his son Collin at all in nearly two years.

Gosselin said he doesn’t battle his ex-wife over the visitation and just focuses on the kids that want to spend time with him.

“If the kids want to come, they come,” Jon said. “I love them all, but I am going to focus on the ones that want to come. My hands are tied.”

Kate Gosselin has remained mostly silent on her custody issues with Jon, but she did explain to People that Collin is enrolled in a special needs program and is currently not living at home.

“This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own,” the single mom of eight said.

“I’ve felt very alone in this. By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him – our entire family has been impacted We miss him so much, so it’s been hard because there is a huge hole in our family without him here.”

It is unclear if Jon Gosselin was previously aware that his son had been sent away for help with his special needs issues. Gosselin has maintained that he has absolutely “no communication” with his ex-wife and that they parent their kids completely separately.

This is not the first time Jon Gosselin’ daughters have spoken about — or attempted to speak about — their unusual relationship with their dad. In a 2014 appearance on The View, both Mady and Cara Gosselin clammed up when asked if they ever see their dad.

Jon Gosselin has not yet commented on his daughters’ latest comments about their relationship, but last month he asked fans not to tag both him and Kate together in social media posts because it causes “drama.”
