Jennifer Lawrence is the world’s highest-paid actress for the second year in a row, according to the infamous Forbes list. The list’s youngest member earned millions ahead of other notable actresses, including Melissa McCarthy and Scarlett Johansson.
Jennifer Lawrence took a generous cut of profits from the big box-office gross — $653.4 million to be exact — of her final Hunger Games movie. This year, Lawrence raked in a cool $45 million for herself.
Lawrence can thank her large upfront fee for her forthcoming sci-fi film, Passengers, for the extra boost ahead of the rest of her fellow actresses.
Lawrence is way ahead of the rest of the heard, banking in $13 million more than the next person on the Forbes list. Ranked second on the list of highest-paid actresses is funny gal Melissa McCarthy, who pocketed $33 million.
McCarthy is up $10 million from 2015’s estimate thanks to her reported eight-figure payday for Ghostbusters remake. The Mike & Molly star also designs her own all-sizes clothing line.
“I started to think if I could do anything to build women up rather than the constant tear down I’m going to do it.”
The top 10 list of highest-paid actresses also included blonde bombshell Scarlett Johansson. The actress reportedly raked in $17.5 million for her controversial role in Ghost in the Shell. She also brings in a significant amount from her endorsement deal with Dolce & Gabbana.
Jennifer Aniston made the list yet again. The actress earned a seven-figure upfront fee for her forthcoming holiday film, Office Christmas Party. Aniston also brings in a good amount of income through endorsements. This year, she added Emirates airlines advertisements to her group of endorsed brands, including Smartwater, Aveeno, and Living Proof.
A few international actresses made the Forbes list as well, including Chinese actress Fan Bingbing. The actress made the list thanks to roles in local movies in the flourishing Chinese cinema industry like Skiptrace and Lady of the Dynasty.
First-timer on the Forbes list is Bollywood star Deepika Padukone. The 30-year-old actress cashes in on over a dozen profitable endorsements.
Actress Charlize Theron made the list, raking in the profits from another successful year of being the face of Dior J’Adore perfume. The Mad Max actress is rumored to have earned $10 million upfront for her supporting role in The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
Redhead starlet Amy Adams joined in as one of the top earners this year. The five-time Oscar nominee returns to ranking this year as she came back as Lois Lane in the Warner Bros./D.C. Comics film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actress also earns income advertising for MaxMara.
All-American beauty Mila Kunis made the list this year, and it is not hard to see why. Kunis has been all over the big screen, most recently starring in the summer comedy- Bad Moms. Perhaps most notable as the voice of Meg on Family Guy, Mila Kunis also rakes in big money with endorsements with Jim Beam whiskey and Gemfields Jewelry.
Julia Roberts bounced back this year for her George Clooney reunion in Money Monster. Her long-time endorsement deal with Lancome doesn’t hurt either.
Forbes’ top-earning actress recently celebrated her 26th birthday on August 15 with a quiet A-list gathering in Vancouver.
Lawrence was in town filming a Darren Aronofsky project, according to a report by Elle. She celebrated her birthday with a low-key rooftop party. The actress spent some time with co-stars Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who also joined her at her get-together.
Actress and friend Brie Larson sent her best wishes to her fellow Hollywood star on Instagram in a goofy throwback photo.
Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t appear to have any plans of slowing up in the forthcoming year. Her 2017 sci-fi drama Passengers with Chris Pratt is highly anticipated by fans.
The film is set to premiere December 21 and stars Lawrence and Pratt on a luxury interstellar spaceship bound for the Homestead II colony 120 years away. On their journey, they are awoken too early and find themselves alone in outer space with a giant ship as their personal playground.
