First Look At Evangeline Lilly In Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’

Lost fans were no doubt beyond excited when Evangeline Lilly was added to the cast of director Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Although details about her character are relatively thin — her character is, after all, a new addition to the story — we now have our first official look at Tauriel. According to Cinema Blend, the image you see embedded below is probably from some sort of movie-oriented tie-in product. Regardless, it gives fans a chance to glimpse what they’ve been waiting months to see: Evangeline Lily as an elf.

The image of Tauriel from The Hobbit first appeared over at The One Ring, a website devoted to all things Tolkien-related. The photo comes with a description which suggests that the likeness of Evangeline Lilly as the aforementioned elf is from the Hobbit toys that have started popping up on retail shelves. Thank God for eagle-eyed toy collections.

During her appearance on Jay Leno last year, Evangeline Lilly discussed her participation in Peter Jackon’s The Hobbit, which included her reaction to the initial telephone call. When the Lord of the Rings director calls, excitement is sure to follow.

“Pete Jackson called, and he says, ‘Would you like to be an elf on The Hobbit,’ and I said, ‘Yes. I really do want to do that,'” the actress explained. “I’m learning the language of elvish, which was invented by J.R.R. Tolkien.”

Evangeline Lilly wasn’t the only actor who received the call from Peter Jackson. The Hobbit also features such talented actors as Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Lee Pace, Hugo Weaving, Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Serkis, Luke Evans, Elijah Wood, and Ian Holm. The first installment of the three-part series is presently set to arrive in US theaters on December 14. If you missed the recently-released trailer, then you should probably correct that problem as soon as human possible.
