Katy Perry, Calvin Harris Teaming Up To Slam Taylor Swift?

Katy Perry has been keeping mum about the details of her highly anticipated new album. So far, only her team and music insiders have been leaking very few details as to what fans can expect.

The latest rumors claim that Katy Perry could team up with Calvin Harris on her next album. At least, that’s what the folks at Hollywood Life are hoping. Perry revealed in a new interview on 97.1 AMP Radio that she’s going in a different direction with her new album, and it will be her most experimental one yet. She even has been working with different producers and co-writers on the fourth studio album.

“I’m growing as an artist – I’m working with different producers that maybe people wouldn’t imagine me to work with, or different co-writers or things like,” Perry, 31, told radio host Booker. “I am right in the thick of it, doing a lot of experimenting and definitely taking some chances with this record.”

So, does that mean Katy Perry and Calvin Harris are going to collaborate on a new song? Not exactly, but imagine the possibilities if it happened. Both artists have their share of bad blood with Taylor Swift. Katy has been in an ongoing feud with her fellow pop star over backup dancers and John Mayer. Meanwhile, Calvin is not too happy to see she moved on quickly with her new boyfriend, Tom Hiddleston, while dragging her ex in the media.

Perry’s latest statement comes after the rumors that she plans to release a long list of diss tracks about her pop arch nemesis.

As for why it’s been taking her so long to finish the follow-up to her 2013 release, Prism, Perry said she wants to take her time with it.

“I can take a little time…I think when the music is good, nobody remembers the time it took to make it. Let’s just say that you won’t think of the time when you hear the record.”

She didn’t reveal any details about the new music in her last interview with Mashable, but she did tease the sound and direction of her next album.

“I’m going for music that connects and relates and inspires…I play with a lot of different themes and stories and sounds and phonics and stuff like that. So I don’t think there’s anything that I can’t try,” she added.

It sounds like there will be a lot more inspirational songs in the same vein of “Rise,” even though Katy told Mashable that she would not include the track on her new album. She sees the song as more of a “bridge” between her last release and her upcoming one.

“I would never necessarily go with this type of song as the first single in the middle of summer. It wasn’t obvious as something I would go with for the next record, but it seemed to match the spirit of the athletes. I felt like that really matched. I’ve been taking my time making this record and I just wanted to have a bridge of something whether I was thinking about doing something for a film or something like this and this seemed so obvious and such a perfect fit.”

In a new interview with Complex, Swae Lee of the hip-hop duo, Rae Sremmurd, revealed that he’d written a track for Ms. Perry.

“I wrote this track and she laid it and it’s pretty dope,” he said, as quoted by Billboard, “It sounded pretty dope. She got a lot of style.”

The Atlanta-based duo has been credited on Beyoncé’s groundbreaking song “Formation,” off her latest album, Lemonade.
