Ariana Grande And Diplo Tease Sexy New Song On Snapchat

Pop princess Ariana Grande and DJ/producer Diplo have leaked a new collaboration on… Snapchat? Grande and Diplo were together in a studio on August 10, and the clip posted on Diplo’s public snap story features a shot of Grande vocalizing into a microphone. Grande rocks a high-waisted denim mini skirt and her signature high ponytail in the video, and the clip catches the tail end of her delivering a classic Ariana Grande high note.

The clip is only a few seconds long, but it’s packed with good news for Ariana Grande and Diplo fans alike. Grande is shown singing solo, and later appears in a group shot next to Diplo (hidden behind an astronaut filter) and another producer. The Grande/Diplo collaboration plays in the background. Not much can be heard, but it sounds like a mid-tempo track that features Grande’s altered and looped vocals over drums. Diplo has previously employed this technique with Justin Bieber’s vocals on “Where Are Ü Now.” Diplo went on to collaborate with Bieber for multiple tracks — could he do the same with Ariana Grande? Will we hear an Ariana Grande/Jack Ü collaboration, or maybe another Major Lazer/Ariana Grande single?

It’s not yet clear whether the track will belong on Ariana Grande’s next album or Diplo’s, but my money’s on Diplo, or potentially a Major Lazer project. Grande’s most recent studio album, Dangerous Woman, was released May 20, so it’s doubtful that Ariana would be preparing for another album so soon. Grande already has her own singles from the album to promote — her most recent single, “Into You,” is making gains on social media. Diplo, on the other hand, has at least one album planned for release this year; if the Grande collaboration gets released, it’ll likely end up on it.

The few seconds of the collaboration certainly sound right at home with the rest of Ariana Grande’s recent discography. Grande’s music has trended towards the electronic, and tracks like “Into You” and “Everyday” sound perfect for the club. “Into You” even features Ariana’s distorted vocals incorporated into the background instrumentals, a technique that can also be heard on the Snapchat story.

Fans of both Ariana Grande and Diplo reacted to the news with excitement and anticipation. The five-second clip was enough to whet appetites, and Ariana Grande fan accounts were the fastest to respond:

And for more ambitious fans, a Grande/Diplo collaboration wasn’t quite enough; only a Bieber/Grande track would do:

While Grande and Diplo are working hard in the studio, they also found time to goof off. In the clip, Ariana poses in front of the camera to try to get the astronaut filter to apply to her, then exasperatedly yells “F*ck this!” when she is unsuccessful.

Grande is no stranger to filters and selfies, according to her own Snapchat. In fact, Ariana’s public Snapchat stories almost exclusively feature the pop star playing with her dogs, chatting with her mom, and applying filters to photos and videos of herself.

This marks the second time Grande and Diplo have collaborated on a track. Grande previously contributed her vocals to “All My Love,” a single by Diplo’s group Major Lazer. The track features Ariana’s signature soaring vocals and a thumping beat. It’s possible that the new Grande/Diplo track teased on Snapchat could have a similar EDM sound.

Grande is clearly a fan of “All My Love,” and she added it to the setlist for her “Honeymoon Tour” in 2015. See a clip below of Ariana performing “All My Love.”

Is it possible that we’ll see Ariana performing this collaboration on future tours? With Grande’s “Dangerous Woman Tour” coming in late 2016 or early 2017, it’s likely that we’ll see the collaboration live sooner than we think. Perhaps Diplo will even drop the track as a surprise during this summer’s “Mad Decent Tour.” Both Ariana Grande and Diplo have a pattern of making hit singles, so hopefully this new track will be all over the airwaves.
