Ann Romney Spoofed By ‘Saturday Night Live’ [Video]

Ann Romney took some criticism for an interview this week when she instructed people to leave her poor husband alone, so it was only natural that Saturday Night Live would capitalize on the interview in an episode this weekend.

As The Huffington Post noted, the skit was right in SNL’s wheelhouse. With the gaffes piling up for Mitt Romney, it is only funny that his wife would jump in and try to take some of the heat off of him, and newcomer Kate McKinnon gave a hilarious impression of Ann Romney for the bit.

In the skit, Ann Romney goes into spin mode, telling Seth Meyers about the joys of apple cider season and the difficulties that come with being a Republican.

The skit was in response to a radio interview Ann Romney did in Iowa earlier in the week.

“Stop it. This is hard,” Romney said when asked by the radio host how she responded to conservatives critics of Mitt Romney.

She went on to add:

You want to try it? Get in the ring. This is hard and, you know, it’s an important thing that we’re doing right now and it’s an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt’s qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.

The real Ann Romney is headed for some screen time of her own. Mitt’s significant other has a booking on The Tonight Show this week, where she will talk with host Jay Leno about her family’s life and the upcoming election, The Chicago Tribune noted.
