Ben & Jerry’s Cannoli Introduced As Limited-Time Flavor

Ben & Jerry’s Cannoli is here, but lovers of the sweet pastry had better hurry because the special flavor will only be around for a limited time.

The new flavor, which was announced on the Ben & Jerry’s Facebook page, is part of the Vermont ice cream maker’s Limited Batch. Ben & Jerry’s Cannoli is flavored with mascarpone ice cream with fudge covered cannoli pieces and a mascarpone swirl.

The new flavor is starting to hit shelves now but will only be around for a few months, The Huffington Post reported.

Ben & Jerry’s Cannnoli is actually the company’s second try at an ice cream based off the cannoli. As the company explained on its Facebook page, Holy Cannoli was an earlier attempt that fell flat.

“We made a cannoli flavor with ricotta before and it bombed,” company officials wrote. “It was called Holy Cannoli. This is a new take on it and we think it tastes better than Holy Cannoli did. We hope you do too!”

The Huffington Post reached out to Ben & Jerry’s representatives to ask why they decided to give cannoli-flavored ice cream another try. The company responded:

“Whenever we develop a new flavor, we start with a big, sky’s-the-limit idea and narrow it down from there. So, before Holy Cannoli was Holy Cannoli years ago, we had LOTS of different batches of what we thought a cannoli-flavored ice cream might taste like. Putting out a different cannoli ice cream flavor is our chance to show our fans just how much we love playing with our food: we love it so much that we don’t just stop at one final flavor!”

Ben & Jerry’s Cannoli will be around until about January but can only be found in stores. The company’s ice cream shops have their own special fall flavors — Spumoni and Butterscotch.
