Even though fans were excited for the official trailer to be released at Comic-Con 2016, the season premiere is not the only thing TWD fans are discussing. Viewers are also talking about Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Ezekiel (Khary Payton), Shiva, and who will die on The Walking Dead. However, there are those who are looking ahead to the Season 7 finale. Will there be another crazy and frustrating cliffhanger?

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, The Walking Dead creator responded to questions regarding the Season 7 finale.

“As a creative person, I have to acknowledge that all responses are valid,” Robert Kirkman told EW. “I definitely have to take note that there’s a seemingly significant portion of the audience that wasn’t happy with that direction, so in that respect I think everyone on The Walking Dead creative team has taken note of that, and I don’t know that I would expect a similar cliffhanger at the end of Season 7.”

Kirkman’s response seems more apologetic than he was when interrogated by fans during an Outcast AMA on Reddit. Even though the discussion was for Robert’s new TV show, viewers couldn’t help but ask about The Walking Dead Season 6 cliffhanger. A few of the participants didn’t even have questions, but just wanted to attack the TWD creator.

Season finale writing can be tricky. Fans want resolution, answers to lingering questions, and a feeling of closure. However, writers want to give people something to talk about during the break. They hope by offering an “OMG ending” that it will give them something to look forward to.

Honestly, there needs to be a healthy balance. Yes, fans should have something to look forward to, but the Season 6 finale took one of the most anticipated moments and stole it from viewers. It is understandable why so many people were upset.

Moving forward, what can fans expect in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere? One viewer commented on The Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page that who Negan killed might not be revealed in the first episode. However, it has been confirmed that the victim will be identified in the season premiere.

“Yes,” TWD executive producer Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly, “who was at the receiving end of Negan’s bat will be revealed in the first episode.”

Fans should be relieved by that answer. It would be incredibly frustrating if who Negan killed was not revealed at the beginning of Season 7. It would also alienate viewers. However, the question remains which character lost their life? Will more than one person fall victim to Negan’s barbed wire baseball bat, Lucille? How will the others in Rick’s group respond to Negan’s actions?

During Comic-Con, The Walking Dead official trailer for the upcoming season was released. It was better than fans thought it would be. Even though Negan was seen, the trailer also revealed new characters that Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) group will meet. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, two of those are Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and his pet tiger, Shiva. There will also be other groups and communities. It was teased that the Whisperers from the comic books could also be introduced.

What do you think of what Robert Kirkman had to say about the cliffhanger issue? Are you satisfied with his response?
