‘Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’ Is Gold, Pre-Orders Approach 100,000 In U.S. Before Launch

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has gone gold. With the game complete and the gold disc printed about one month prior to launch, fans can rest assured the game is on track to be released without further delay. Available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One beginning August 23, Mankind Divided is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Unlike other entertainment industries, going “gold” in the gaming industry celebrates the completion of a game’s development and the printing of the “gold” master disc, which is traditionally used for mass reproduction of a game. As seen in the above tweet, an arrow in the photo of the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided team points to the gold game disc.

As far as sales numbers are concerned, according to data provided by VGChartz, Mankind Divided has over 52,900 pre-orders for PS4 and more than 45,700 pre-orders for Xbox One as of July 2 in the U.S. alone. It is likely the next installment of the Deus Ex series will reach 100,000 copies sold in the U.S. at launch.

Originally, the pre-order bonuses for Mankind Divided were offered as a tiered system that many found confusing. The program was closed late last year based on consumer feedback in favor of a simpler bonus for all pre-orders.

Now, those who pre-order are guaranteed a copy of the Day One Edition, which includes an extra mission, a “Covert Agent” DLC pack, a digital artbook, a six song sample soundtrack, plus a digital comic book and novella. The publisher also notes those who don’t pre-order will have the option to purchase all of the Day One Edition content at a later date.

The extra mission has Adam Jensen seeking out the guilty party behind a bombing in Prague. Gameplay footage leading up to the bombing can be viewed in the first five minutes of the world premiere gameplay demo. The description for the mission is provided by the publisher as follows.

“As Adam Jensen, you find yourself in the city of Prague, recently rattled to its very core due to a bombing at the Ruzicka train station. With tampered security footage hampering the investigation behind the attack, you must rely on both your augmentations, and skills as a covert operative, in order to unveil the true culprit responsible for the bombing.”

The “Covert Agent” pack includes three different gear options for Adam Jensen to use in the game. Fans of Human Revolution may gravitate toward the “Classic Gear” set, complete with Jensen’s trench coat, armor, and revolver from the previous game. The other gear options embrace Adam Jensen’s look in Mankind Divided and the option to engage in a lethal or non-lethal combat. The “Intruder Gear” has been made with stealth playthroughs in mind with its custom-skinned trench coat and pistol. The “Enforcer Gear” is the corresponding set suggested for lethal combat playthroughs, and it comes with an appropriate skin for the combat rifle instead of the pistol.

For dedicated fans looking for even more goodies, a Collector’s Edition is also available at launch on all platforms; although, the PC version will include a digital download code instead of a physical game disc. As a nod to player choice, fans voted on the items to be included in the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Collector’s Edition last summer. Making the final cut and included in the prism-shaped box are a nine-inch Adam Jensen figurine, a 48-page “Titan” artbook, a limited edition Steelbook case, plus all of the content from the Day One Edition. Sold separately, collectors can also purchase a limited edition strategy guide that comes with an exclusive lithograph.
