‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Return: Every Thing We Know So Far About Newcomer Luciana

San Diego Comic-Con introduced a new character, Luciana, to the Season 2 return of Fear The Walking Dead. The actor who plays the new character, Danay Garcia, was present during the Fear panel. But what do we know already about this new character and how will she affect the storylines for the existing characters when Season 2 returns in August?

When the San Diego Comic-Con panel for Fear The Walking Dead was announced, there was an unfamiliar cast name there: Danay Garcia. And that is all fans knew about the newest character in AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead until the panel aired. Now, along with the Comic-Con panel, Danay’s character, Luciana, also appeared in the Season 2 return trailer for Fear. So, here’s everything we know so far about Luciana.

During the Fear panel, Danay Garcia revealed her introduction to the zombie apocalyptic world of Fear The Walking Dead was a quick transition from auditioning to turning up on set, according to Fox News Latino.

“It happened so fast. I got the job on a Wednesday. I was in Mexico on Friday. I was on set on Monday.”

If you thought Celia Flores (Marlene Forté) was the only person who thought the infected were just a new kind of “dead,” guess again, because Fear‘s showrunner, Dave Erickson, revealed that the group Luciana belongs to also think along these lines.

“They don’t see the dead as a bad thing,” he revealed during the panel. The Season 2 trailer confirms this when the following words are uttered.

“The dead are walking towards their final resting place. The world is washed clean of death. We the faithful will remain, we have been chosen. This is a test, we will outlast death”

We see in the Fear The Walking Dead trailer, Luciana shutting a man into a deserted bus. A young girl utters the word, “Papa.” It seems Luciana may be some kind of leader in her community. According to ComicBook, Dave Erickson has confirmed Luciana will be a “bad a** soldier in this group.”

Fans then get to see what happens to members of the group who enter the bus: they exit the bus and become what appears to be a “sacrifice” to the infected. Perhaps this man was already infected via a bite and was offering himself up to the infected? However, watching the trailer doesn’t appear to reveal any bite marks and the man appears to be in good health.

Only by tuning into the Season 2 return of Fear The Walking Dead will all be revealed. However, interesting to note in the Season 2 trailer, is that at some point Luciana and what could be Nick enter the compound via the bus and start taking out the undead. Will her beliefs be tested in the Season 2 return of Fear The Walking Dead?

Latina Fox News also confirmed that Luciana’s community is near Tijuana. In the Season 2 trailer, you see Nick Clark (Frank Dillane) walking past a sign that reveals Tijuana is 100 miles away. So, at some point, Nick manages to make the distance. And when he does meet up with Luciana’s group, he must prove himself.

“She’s testing him,” said Garcia at Comic-Con. “He’s the foreigner.”

According to ComicBook, Dave Erickson revealed Nick and Luciana will eventually form a bond. As yet, it is unclear just what sort of bond this will be.

So how do Nick and Luciana meet up? According to the trailer, it appears Nick has been shot in the leg. He is pretending to be one of the undead but then collapses to the ground, Luciana sees this through binoculars. Nick is later seen being tended to and asked about why he was “walking with the dead.”

As yet, no further information has been posted on AMC’s official Fear The Walking Dead website in regards to Luciana.

Season 2 of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead returns Sunday, August 21, with Episode 8 at 9 p.m. ET.
