‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Negan Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan Just Revealed Who Wasn’t Killed

Walking Dead fans were left hanging with the season finale that aired in early April. We finally got to see mega-villain Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and he came on the scene in a big way. The Walking Dead season ended with Rick and most of his gang on their knees in front of Negan as he wielded Lucy, his barbed-wire-wrapped baseball bat. One of them was killed by Negan and Lucille in a Walking Dead cliffhanger that many have protested and others are relishing. Speculation as to the identification of the person who was killed has been rampant ever since. Some of the Walking Dead cast sat down for an interview with Kevin Smith during Comic-Con, among them Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The Negan actor didn’t say who died, but he did say who didn’t die, and what he said will surprise some.

The Walking Dead cast members who were present at this interview were Steven Yeun (Glenn), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), and Andrew Lincoln (Rick). Kevin Smith didn’t hesitate at all and jumped into the interview with the question on every Walking Dead fan’s mind.

“With the exception of Jeffrey, this panel is unkillable, right? Not a single one of you guys is ever leaving that show.”

After some friendly banter among the Walking Dead stars about who should answer the question and a little peer pressure from Reedus and Lincoln, who asked him, “Who did you kill? If anyone,” Morgan said, “No one sitting here.” Well, there goes a couple of Walking Dead fan theories.

The theory that Glenn would be the Walking Dead character to die at the hands of Negan was a popular one and was based on events in the comic book upon which the show is based. Just two weeks ago, TV Guide said the following.

“The best evidence for it being Glenn on the show is that it was Glenn in the comics. It was a hugely traumatic death there, and it would be a hugely traumatic death here. Glenn is uniquely positioned to have a heartbreaking death, since he’s a beloved character who’s been on the show since the very first episode.”

True, but many said that Glenn would not be the Walking Dead character to die for two reasons. One is that it’s too predictable to just follow the comic book. The second reason was that Walking Dead fans were upset in Season 6 when they felt tricked into thinking Glenn died only to learn that he didn’t. Letting him live then only to kill him soon after just didn’t make sense.

There were also many Walking Dead fans who thought Daryl Dixon would be the one to die. This was largely based on three reasons. One is that Daryl is unique to the Walking Dead TV show. He isn’t in the comic book, so possibly not important to the rest of the story that will be told on AMC. Second is that if Negan wanted to really hurt Rick, he’d kill someone who has been with him since the early days of The Walking Dead. Daryl is one of those people. The third reason is that Norman Reedus now has his own show — Ride with Norman Reedus. How could he have time to work on that show as well as The Walking Dead? Well, apparently he found a way.

So, who else could it be that The Walking Dead‘s newest villain killed? Hollywood Take said that the most likely victims were Daryl, Abraham, Glenn, Eugene, and Michonne. Since we know it isn’t Daryl or Glenn, that leaves us with Abraham, Eugene, and Michonne. Without a doubt, the one that would have the biggest impact on Walking Dead leader Rick is Michonne. Guess we’ll have to wait until October to find out for sure. Check out the full interview with Kevin Smith below.
