NiGHTS, Sonic Adventure 2 Release Dates Announced

On Monday, Sega announced that Sega Saturn classic NiGHTS Into Dreams and Sonic Adventure 2 from the Dreamcast era will be getting re-released, which we first heard about back in July, on XBLA and PSN along with a new (HD) coat of paint this October.

Specifically, Sega says that both NiGHTS Into Dreams and Sonic Adventure 2 for the PlayStation 3 will release on October 2 in North America, with a European release following one day later. Xbox 360 owners won’t have much longer to wait, as you’ll be able to grab both HD re-releases on October 5 worldwide. Each game will cost you $10, or 800 Microsoft Points.

Fans (myself included) were wondering whether or not Christmas NiGHTS , which was previously only available on the Saturn as a promotional item, would be included with the release of NiGHTS Into Dreams . Much to my delight, Sega confirmed that it will be included in the package, and it won’t cost you extra.

Sonic Adventure 2 will also be getting a bonus, but that one won’t be free. Sega says that “Battle Mode” DLC will be available day one, which essentially upgrades your digital copy of Sonic Adventure 2 to the GameCube version, which added a few new features. Fortunately, it’s relatively cheap; Sega says that the Battle Mode DLC will only set you back $3, or 240 Microsoft Points.

NiGHTS Into Dreams is definitely an easy game to recommend, so unless Sega somehow manages to mess something up I’d highly advise you check that one out. Sonic Adventure 2 isn’t half bad itself–I still maintain that it was the last good Sonic game–but you’ll need to have the patience to fight with the camera. A lot.

Will you be picking up either of these games?
