‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For July 22, Dragon’s Breath And Impossible Machines

PlayStation and Xbox Destiny players received a fresh batch of Exotic Goods from Xûr on Friday. The mysterious vendor is back with some rarely seen items such as the Impossible Machines for Warlocks and the unique Dragon’s Breath Rocket Launcher.

Destiny players looking for Xûr should turn right and head toward the hangar after spawning at the Tower. Once you’ve gone through the long hallway and entered the hangar, turn right, and you will see the seller of Exotics. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map, just to be sure.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

Dragon’s Breath

The re-introduction of the Dragon’s Breath for Destiny Year Two came with a fun set of changes for the Rocket Launcher. It drops a canister of napalm on the floor after exploding to set an area of the game space on fire. Additionally, players hold down the trigger to fire and release to decide when the rocket is going to explode.

The large area of effect damage makes the Dragon’s Breath excellent to use in encounters with huge packs of minions, such as the final room in the secret mission to get the Black Spindle. It can be fun to use in PVP as well, but the utility is not the same as more aggressive Rocket Launchers such as The Truth.

No Backup Plans

No Backup Plans has received a nice upgrade for Year Two, but it’s still a purely personal defense armor piece. The “Force Multiplier” perk is the signature item on the Gauntlets and triggers the Force Barrier with Shotgun kills, and the overshield’s duration is increased. This turns Defenders into a more aggressive sub-class in PVP and increases survivability in tight PVE encounters.

The optional Perks include “Rain Blows” and “Impact Induction” for a choice between faster melee speed or bonus grenade energy on melee hits. There’s also a choice between faster Shotgun or Rocket Launcher reloads.

The 71 Strength stat roll is just in the right place for No Backup Plans. Not much need to re-roll with Glass Needles unless there is a different reload preference or if you want to shoot for bonus melee energy on grenade hits instead.

Radiant Dance Machines

Hunters who want to move faster should check out the Radiant Dance Machines. Not only will these Exotic boots grant style points, but they also give increased movement speed when aiming down sights via “The Dance” perk. The PVE utility of this perk is questionable beyond jumping puzzles or using it to reach Dead Ghosts and Calcified Fragments, but it is of great use in PVP. Destiny players can stack this with weapons that come with agility buffs, such as MIDA Multi-tool, to move even faster.

The 57 Intellect and 59 Discipline stat roll for these boots is excellent. The ability to carry more Sniper Rifle or Machine Gun ammo is always welcome. Destiny players will need to decide if its worth re-rolling if they want a different ammo option.

The Impossible Machines

These Warlock Gauntlets are specific to the Stormcaller subclass and currently remain a must-have. The innate perk is called “Lightning Rod” and gives the subclass the “Landfall” ability perk without taking up a spot on the skill tree.

The other available perks include a choice between “Snap Discharge” and “Impact Induction” for increased melee attack speed or bonus grenade energy on melee hits. Fast Hand Cannon or Sniper Rifle reload speed is also available.

The 57 Intellect/59 Discipline split stat roll is excellent and placed in the right spots for the Stormcaller subclass to regenerate Super and Melee abilities faster.
