Miranda Lambert Discusses Heartbreak After Releasing ‘Vice,’ Which Was Possibly Inspired By Blake Shelton

Miranda Lambert went through a rough year last year, and in a recent post on Instagram, the 32-year-old country singer opened up about her heartbreak and healing.

After releasing her latest single, “Vice,” Miranda Lambert shared a screenshot of the single at number one on a music chart and explained how she had turned her heartache into song as she attempted to cope with the difficulties she’s been faced with over the past several months.

“The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing … Of learning to be honest … Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles. Finding peace in dark places … having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings … all of them,” Miranda Lambert wrote to her fans and followers. “I got to know my guitars … became friends with a pencil and paper … Used melodies to lead me places I had never been … Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine.”

“This means the world to me. Thank you for joining me on this journey,” Miranda Lambert added of her chart-topping single.

In her song, “Vice,” Miranda Lambert sings about being lonely and crawling out of a bed she shouldn’t be in. The track, which Miranda Lambert co-wrote with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, features lyrics including “Another vice, another call, another bed I shouldn’t crawl out of,” and “At 7 a.m, with shoes in my hand said I wouldn’t do it, but I did it again / And I know I’ll be back tomorrow night.”

Miranda Lambert’s new single is the first single she’s released since splitting from her ex-husband, Blake Shelton, in July 2015.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton parted ways last summer after four years of marriage, and months later, Shelton, who was busy filming The Voice Season 9 when their divorce announcement was made, went public with his co-star, Gwen Stefani, and their romance often landed on the cover of magazines.

While Miranda Lambert’s ex-husband, Shelton, wasted no time moving on from their marriage, she took her time, and in a telling interview after their split, she admitted that she wasn’t having the easiest time getting through their breakup.

“I’m still processing everything and figuring out were to go and what happened,” Miranda Lambert said during an interview with Cosmopolitan after her divorce from Shelton, via People Magazine. “I just want to live life full of everything. Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going ‘Man this sucks right now.’ It’s about living in the moment and feeling every tinge of pain, then waking up the next day and going, ‘All right, I’m going to ride my ponies. I’m going to have a girls’ night.'”

Following the interview, Miranda Lambert was linked to R&B singer Anderson East and in January of this year, she confirmed their relationship with her fans and followers on Instagram by posting a photo of them cuddling together under a blanket. Months later, the couple made their red carpet debut at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, which was also attended by Shelton.

In March, after news of Miranda Lambert’s romance with Anderson East broke, a source told People Magazine that the singer was “extremely happy and content” with how her life was playing out post-divorce.

Although Miranda Lambert isn’t too vocal about her romance with East, she shares frequent photos of the singer on her Instagram page, the latest of which was used to wish him a Happy Birthday.
