‘The Walking Dead’: Carl Grimes To Get A Real Story In Season 7? [Spoilers]

Warning: The Walking Dead Season 7 spoilers are ahead.

The Walking Dead is currently filming Season 7. Spoilers have been scarce lately, but filming updates give fans clues on what is going to happen when the zombie apocalypse series returns to AMC. Based on recent TWD spoilers and educated guesses, could Carl Grimes finally get a decent storyline when the show comes back this fall?

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there will be plenty of action in Season 7 of The Walking Dead. When the series premieres, fans will finally get to find out who Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed with Lucille. Based on casting calls and reports from the filming locations, it seems that Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) will both die in the first episode. So much focus has been on Negan and his victims that nobody is really talking about the other characters, especially the children of the zombie apocalypse. One of those includes Carl Grimes, played by Chandler Riggs.

In The Walking Dead comic books, Carl tries to kill Negan but is unsuccessful. The TWD character is impressed by Carl’s guts, and the two end up spending some quality time together. That isn’t as pleasant as it sounds, but it does make an interesting story in the graphic novels. After the season finale, many fans thought Negan would take Carl under his wing. However, some viewers speculated that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) would take Carl’s place. This is due to the reports that Daryl is kidnapped by Negan and the Saviors.

What if the original theory was accurate and The Walking Dead Season 7 is going to follow the comics more closely than fans realize? The Spoiling Dead Fans recently posted a photo of Chandler Riggs on set. He was standing beside a truck, and there were several other people in the picture. The Saviors drive a truck, so maybe Negan and Carl will have some major scenes when the show returns.

The Walking Dead spoiler page previously posted that Carl and Enid (Katelyn Nacon) were walking down a road together. Carl’s father, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was nowhere in sight. Even though Carl is a teenager now and capable of defending himself, there is no way Rick would let him travel without a trusted adult in the group. There was a lot of speculation on where Carl and Enid were going. Some fans thought the two might be traveling to the Saviors headquarters.

Many viewers are hoping that Carl Grimes gets a real story in Season 7 of The Walking Dead. He has always been a main character, but he hasn’t really had any “real” storylines. Now that he is older, perhaps fans can see just how much he has grown. Depending on how closely the TWD comics are followed, could fans see several Negan and Carl scenes? It sure would be interesting, especially to see how it affects Rick once he finds out.

Fans have watched Carl grow from a child to a teenager. He used to be defenseless, then he made some risky choices, and he even went through a period of anger. Has he grown enough that he can be capable of dealing with Negan on his own? Or will this turn out to be his biggest mistake yet?

Viewers need to prepare themselves for The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere. Executive producer Greg Nicotero teased just how much work went into filming, according to CinemaBlend. It was brutal, not just for the characters, but the actors as well.

What do you think will happen with Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead Season 7? Find out this fall when the premiere airs on AMC.
