Another ‘Pokemon GO’ Player Finds A Dead Body While Playing The Viral Game

Another Pokemon GO player got more than they bargained for while playing the augmented reality game. A young man playing Pokemon GO found a body floating in the Salmon Brook in Nashua, New Hampshire. The man reportedly wanted to search for Pokemon at a natural water site so walked to the Salmon Brook behind the Holocaust Memorial which sits by an Adult Learning Center. The Pokemon trainer discovered more than Pokemon in the location as he saw the body floating in the water and called for help.

WMUR reports that a Pokemon GO player found a dead body while playing the addictive smartphone game. The body was found near Rotary Park in Nashua, New Hampshire, while a young gamer attempted to find some elusive water Pokemon. Witnesses say that the young man was playing the viral game when he stumbled upon the dead body.

Local authorities called in a dive team to search for the body following the call from the Pokemon player. The team was able to recover the body, but details about the victim and the Pokemon player who found the body are currently unknown. The area has reportedly been inundated with people since the release of the popular Pokemon game but no one had noticed the body until the keen-eyed player approached the water in a bid to find some special water Pokemon.

Oddly, this is not the first dead body that has been found by a Pokemon GO player. Not even a week ago, a 19-year-old girl found a dead body near her home while looking for Pokemon. According to KTVQ, Shayla Wiggins, 19, says she was on a Pokemon hunt when she decided to head to a body of water to see if she could find any unique water Pokemon. The young woman says she jumped a fence and headed towards Wind River in Riverton, Wyoming.

Wiggins says that as she headed towards a bridge by the shore she saw something unusual in the water. Upon further inspection, the teen realized that the object was a dead body and she contacted authorities.

“The Pokemons are all over Riverton. I was trying to get a Pokemon from a natural water resource. I was walking towards the bridge along the shore when I saw something in the water. I had to take a second look and I realized it was a body. It was pretty shocking. I didn’t really know what to do at first. But I called 911 right away and they came really quickly.”

With Pokemon GO players finding two bodies in under a week, the game is proving to be beneficial to the authorities in regards to recovery bodies. However, many police stations are warning players to be weary of their surroundings. The first case of Pokemon crime was reported in O’Fallon, Missouri, after a man says he was held at gunpoint after being lured to a Pokestop by criminals using a Lure Module. The Guardian reports that the criminals allegedly lured the players to a secluded area using the in-game module so that they could rob victims. Forbes notes that there have been other robberies attributed to the game following the first incident in O’Fallon with players being robbed in various cities across the United States while searching for Pokemon.
