‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Star Charlie Hunnam Feuding With Kurt Sutter? ‘Mayans MC’ Creator Sets The Record Straight

Kurt Sutter is gearing up for the new Sons of Anarchy spinoff, Mayans MC.

Unfortunately, Charlie Hunnam’s involvement in the project was questioned following rumors of a feud between Hunnam and Sutter.

Thankfully, Movie News Guide revealed that Sutter has officially opened up about the feud rumors.

“Don’t go online much these days. This is why: ‘Hunnam Feuds With Sutter,'” Sutter told his Twitter fans. “C**tblogger twisting up an old story. I love Charlie. It’s mutual.”

Many thought that Hunnam would make a cameo in Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy prequel series. The series is expected to follow the early days of SAMCRO and might eventually merge with Sons of Anarchy’s storyline.

Fans were hopeful that Hunnam would reprise his role as a younger Jax Teller in the prequel, though that now appears out of the question.

According to Ecumenical News, the biggest hurdle in Hunnam’s return is the reported feud with Sutter.

The origins of the feud surfaced after Hunnam’s interview with Men’s Journal, in which he opened up about his complicated relationship with the Sons of Anarchy creator.

“Kurt and I never blasted each other in the face,” Hunnam revealed. “But, I will say it got close.”

At the same time, the death of Hunnam’s character is another thing that is stopping him from reprising the role. Hunnam had a unique bond with Jax over the course of the seven seasons of the show.

According to Game N Guide, Hunnam eventually came to terms with Sutter’s decision to kill off Jax during the Season 7 finale.

“I was reading those pages and Jax was different. I called Kurt and we had a long conversation,” Hunnam stated. “At the end of it we both realized that it would have been more tragic to let him live after what he had gone through.”

With that in mind, it is unclear if Hunnam wants to revisit a character he already put to rest.

For now, it isn’t known when Sutter plans on developing the prequel. According to Parent Herald, the CEO of FX, John Landgraf, hinted that Sutter wants to produce several Sons of Anarchy spinoffs.

“[Sutter] has been writing and working on an idea for a show, and he’s also re-expressed interest in another show in the Sons of Anarchy franchise,” Landgraf explained.

Sutter also shared his desire to dive back into the hit biker world.

“The network is very hot on the Mayans project, and I won’t run that show,” Sutter revealed to Deadline. “For me, this is about finding the right writer, and the next thing I will be doing is sitting down and interviewing to find a Latino writer, someone who understands the world and culture. I don’t want to just throw some white guy at it.”

Sutter hired Elgin James to help him write Mayans MC from a Latino perspective.

“I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice,” Sutter shared. “Because I don’t think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice.”

Sutter also teased fans last month that Mayans MC is close to starting production.

“The return is near. #MayansMC,” he wrote on Twitter.

With Sutter going all in on Mayans MC, it’s anyone’s guess when he will find time to develop the Sons of Anarchy prequel.

Whatever happens, it is unlikely that Charlie Hunnam will be involved in the Sons of Anarchy prequel or Mayans MC, even if the feud rumors are false.
