Is Buckingham Palace Really Infested With Pokémon?

And all this time, it was thought that the biggest attraction at Buckingham Palace was the royal family, but it seems now, thanks to Pokémon GO, because of a Pokémon infestation, Buckingham Palace is a hot spot for those hunting Pokémon. The palace guard at Buckingham Palace is frustrated by what they are considering a threat to their security but are finding it hard to do much about it. But it is amusing to imagine those stoic guards in the beefeater hats keeping the Pokemon hunters straight.

According to the Inquisitr, Buckingham Palace is usually only swirling with one kind of creature, and that is of the Corgi variety. With the increase in traffic due to the Pokémon GO craze, the Corgis must be going crazy and yapping like mad, which in turn, must be driving everyone else crazy. One can only imagine that Queen Elizabeth is hoping that people start finding loads of Pokémon elsewhere, or that the guards come up with some Pokémon disinfectant.

Vanity Fair says that the Duchess of Cambridge is old news now that there is a Pokémon infestation at Buckingham Palace. Though there isn’t yet an official U.K. version of Pokémon GO, there are already tons of creatures waiting to be caught. The game, which allows users to catch anime creatures through augmented-reality technology based on a phone’s G.P.S., has still managed to take the British Isles by storm.

The palace guards are used to protecting Queen Elizabeth and family against real threats, meaning ones that can be seen, but this is something new. Pokémon are showing up at other inconvenient places, like private homes, the middle of the ocean, and inside the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and even the Pentagon.

The Daily Mail is reporting that even the most controversial Pokémon has taken residence with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Reportedly, Jynx, a gown-wearing psychic known in Japan as Rougela, was seen loitering close to members of the Queen’s Guard. Jynx is considered to be a controversial Pokémon because creators were criticized for creating her with what looked to be blackface. Harsher terms were also used for Jynx, allegedly calling her a transvestite.

Also spotted near Buckingham Palace were other Pokémon, including Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. A gamer named Chirag reportedly couldn’t resist taking some photos of the Pokémon creatures on his app while visiting Buckingham Palace with his family.

“I’m enjoying it, there are a lot more people playing it than I expected. We’ve already got a WhatsApp group for it and I think I’m the youngest one in it – the oldest is about 35. I’ve caught 26 in two days and I’ve played the least out of my friends.”

But Buckingham Palace is not the only odd place to find some of the stranger Pokémon, as the London Eye, 10 Downing Street, and in Manchester, on the statue of Alan Turing. Pokémon are said to be found in what some consider to be unsavory locations, like sex shops and the headquarters of the Hell’s Angels.

U.K. authorities are bracing for some of the negative situations that have come along with the release of Pokémon GO in the United States, and that is the crimes of opportunity, where unsuspecting Pokémon GO players are lured into situations or bad areas and robbed.

Just last week, four days after the American release, four teenagers were charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action for allegedly using the game to commit robberies in Missouri. Players were said to be unaware of their surroundings because they were so engrossed in the Pokémon GO game on their phone.
