Katy Perry May Have Already Responded To Calvin Harris’ Twitter Rant About Taylor Swift

Katy Perry may have already added her two cents to Calvin Harris’ epic Twitter rant about Taylor Swift. Entertainment Weekly reports that after Calvin Harris’ tweets gained viral media attention, Perry tweeted a Hillary Clinton GIF, where the Democrats’ current presidential nominee looks directly at the camera and shrugs, as if to say, “I told you so.”

After she tweeted the meme, Katy Perry retweeted one of her old tweets which said, “Time is the ultimate truth teller.”

Calvin Harris mentions Katy Perry in one of his tweets against Taylor. At one point he says he won’t allow Taylor to “bury him” the same way that she tried to do with Katy Perry.

As TMZ reports, this recent Calvin Harris-Taylor Swift beef all started when the media learned that Taylor Swift wrote Calvin Harris’ hit song, “This Is What You Came For.” Swift helped write the song under a fake name: Nils Sjoberg.

According to TMZ, Taylor recorded a demo version of the song on piano and stored it on her iPhone. She reportedly emailed the song to Calvin who loved it. They eventually recorded a proper demo. Taylor did the vocals while Calvin worked on the beat. At the time, it seems that they didn’t want the world to know that they had worked on a song together and that’s why Taylor used the sobriquet. However, Swift still retained the publishing rights, TMZ reports.

What’s more, the song may even be why Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris broke up.

When “This Is What You Came For” released, Harris was a guest on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, and he was asked whether he would ever work with his then girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Calvin said no. “You know we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening though,” he said, in reply to the question.

According to TMZ, sources claim that Taylor felt disrespected by this response and that it was the crack that led to the disintegration of their relationship.

Now that the song, sung by Rihanna, is a chart-topping hit, Taylor Swift and her team have let the world know that she’s the creative mind behind it. This seems to have really rubbed Calvin Harris the wrong way. TMZ reports that Taylor made the revelation because she’s offended by some of the things Calvin has said about her in the press. Calvin tweeted that he found the revelation hurtful.

With this mention of Katy Perry in his tweets, Calvin Harris confirmed a rumor that many had believed to be true: Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” was based on a feud between her and Katy Perry.

It looks like Katy Perry and Taylor Swift really did have a huge fallout and it eventually inspired that song. The two seemed to at least be “industry friends” a couple of years ago. As the Mirror reports, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift used to tweet each other back and forth about their cats and Katy was a guest star at one of Swift’s live concert gigs.

But things between them seemed sour in 2014 when Taylor Swift gave a Rolling Stone interview where she made some veiled references to another female pop star. At the time, there were rumors that this was about Katy Perry.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'” Taylor said.

“She did something so horrible, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It was about business, ” Swift added in reference to something the other pop starlet had done the previous year.

As Digital Spy reports, a major breaking point in their relationship happened in 2012 when three of Katy Perry’s former backup dancers abandoned Taylor Swift’s Red tour to join Perry on her Prism tour.

One of the dancers, Lockhart Brownlie, claimed that he and the other dancers were closer to Katy Perry and they weren’t doing much dancing on the Red tour anyway.

“Obviously we were with Katy for two and a half years, she’s like family to us. So we were, like, ‘Absolutely’,” Brownlie told Australia’s the Examiner at the time. “We weren’t really dancing in Taylor’s tour anyway, so I had got a little bored and I really wanted to do a promo tour.”

So far Taylor Swift hasn’t publicly commented on Calvin Harris or Katy Perry since all of this new drama has unfolded.
