Ronaldo is currently enjoying well-earned rest in the waters of southern Spain, after captaining a Portugal to Euro 2016 victory. Despite his team, Portugal, being the underdogs, Ronaldo helped Portugal reach the final and win the European Championship trophy.

In the final, a 10th minute knee-injury forced Ronaldo to leave the pitch, in tears, against France, but that did not stop the man, who is considered one of the best footballers of all time, to inspire his teammates from the touchline.

After Portugal won the game, many of Ronaldo’s teammates praised him for his devotion and relentless hard work for his team, as his inspirational attitude was helpful to energize his compatriots and earn a hard fought win.

Ronaldo was showered with the praise from all over the world, with many football legends admiring his legacy, and him being one of the game’s most influential players. Ronaldo’s former boss, legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson even went on to say that the Portuguese is the special player of this generation.

“Cristiano Ronaldo has an incredible desire for football,” the Scot told a German newspaper. “He is looking forward to each workout. Ronaldo always wants to be better, to win. He especially loves these big games.”

“During my time at Manchester United, Ronaldo was the player who developed the most. Through much hard work. He constantly worked on his shooting technique, with the right, left, his heading ability, his bounce.”

“Ronaldo’s performance improvement is incredible. And what is remarkable, today’s football is so athletic, so fast,” he added about the Portuguese.

“Usually top players can only play for about five or six years at the highest level, then it’s over. Cristiano Ronaldo has been doing this for over 10 years. That makes Ronaldo so exceptional.”

“Every generation has its special footballer, Ronaldo is currently,” concluded Ferguson.

Ronaldo heroics with Portugal has won him the heart of many football fans and players all over the world, with France midfielder Paul Pogba backing him to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, an annual award for the best football player in the world. Ronaldo currenly has three, so another Ballon d’Or title means he will move one step closer to the record holder, Lionel Messi, who has five. Ronaldo can go one up against Messi by winning a fourth title, to settle his claim in the “Messi vs. Ronaldo” debate.

Many believe this year Ballon d’Or belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo after his triumphs in 2016, winning Champions League with Real Madrid and European Championship with his country.
