Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Learn To Swim For Their Little Mermaid

It may have taken Chrissy Teigen and John Legend a while to become parents, but the extra time has only given them the opportunity to discover just what kind of parents they would like to be for Luna Simone. As their infant daughter begins to discover the joys of water and dresses for swimming outings in a mermaid outfit, Chrissy and John reveal they have their work cut out for them. Neither Teigen nor Legend knows how to swim, says Chrissy, but she adds that learning to swim is a priority for them.

Chrissy Teigen Presents Luna Simone As Her Own Little Mermaid

Since Luna was born in April, Chrissy and John have flooded their social media accounts with images of their first daughter, and proving there’s no end to the flood of pictures, E! News reveals that the couple has again shared a new image. This time, Legend and Teigen have dressed their daughter up in a knitted mermaid outfit. The homemade costume may have something to do with Chrissy’s latest modeling campaign, which has Teigen promoting Vita Coco Coconut Oil.

Teigen says that both she and Legend are adapting well to parenting, pointing out that while Luna has been bonding with both of them, it’s different for each parent. Chrissy says Luna comes to her with her more basic needs, such as a feeding or a diaper change, but with John, there is a more emotional connection.

“When she looks at him, it’s like these dreamy, weird, different eyes and it’s so sweet to see,” Teigen says. “I think there’s no relationship like a father-daughter relationship.”

Chrissy says Luna has already adapted to their lifestyle, which does require a good deal of traveling and frequent outings. Teigen is surprised that their daughter is so mellow and so well behaved at public events and social situations. She says they were lucky to get such an easy-going child because she and John are always on the move. Teigen was worried Luna would have a difficult time adjusting to their jet-setting lifestyle.

John And Chrissy Are Learning To Swim For Luna

Chrissy told People that she and husband John Legend are not swimmers, but they’re learning how to swim now because they want to be there for their daughter. They realize Luna will know how to swim and their concern is that, should an accident occur on the water, neither parent would be able to help. Teigen says they’re trying to fix that problem now, while there’s still time.

“I was in the pool today,” says 30-year-old Teigen. “I can’t swim, but I’m trying to learn for Luna, of course. There is nothing I want to do more than to get her into the water and for her to learn to swim.”

Ms. Teigen stresses the feeling of helplessness by citing her motivation for learning to swim, and since they both need swimming lessons, Chrissy says she has arranged for an instructor to come to their home to work with them. She adds that neither John nor herself are afraid of the water or of anything that might be lurking in the water. Their inability to swim is far more practical. Chrissy says neither of them grew up in areas where there was easy access to water.

The swimming instructor will be working with the whole family, says Teigen. The model has high hopes that Luna Simone will be a very early swimmer. Chrissy has no doubt that Luna will earn that mermaid outfit in record time.

“I just want to make sure that she feels that she can cope with it,” Teigen explained.
