‘Fallout 4’ Is Finished: Bethesda Says ‘Nuka-World’ DLC Will Be The Last Add-On For The Game

Fallout 4 has been officially shelved by Bethesda. In a Twitter exchange with a fan, Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines indicated that the Nuka-World DLC would be the last add-on for the title.

Nuka-World is one of two downloadable content packages yet to be released. The Vault-Tec Workshop add-on is due out this month, while Nuka-World is coming in August. The DLC packages usually run around $20, but you can buy the season pass for $50 and get all the extra content.

Season passes include:

  • Automatron
  • Wasteland Workshop
  • Far Harbor
  • Contraptions Workshop
  • Vault-Tec Workshop
  • Nuka-World

The $50 price is a good deal if you have not already purchased any of the DLCs separately. GameSpot reported that early purchasers of the season pass only paid $30, but Bethesda raised the price due to an expansion in what they planned to offer. The company will not ask for more money from those who were fortunate enough to get the season pass at the lower price.

Nuka-World will introduce a few new things to the Fallout 4 core game.

According to the official description, the add-on will have a whole new amusement park area to explore. Zones within the park include “Safari Adventure, Dry Rock Gulch, Kiddie Kingdom, and the Galactic Zone.”

Additionally, the area will be infested with new enemies and creatures. There will also be new quests and weapons to discover.

Fallout 4 will likely continue to see updates that fix bugs and performance after the Nuka-World add-on releases, but no new content will be created. However, that is no reason for gamers to abandon the game.

The Fallout 4 Creation Kit was released earlier this year, and home developers are already creating mods. In the past, mods on most video game titles were limited to PC users. However, Bethesda announced at E3 that mods would be coming to Xbox and PlayStation users as well. Xbox and PC mods are already available. According to both GameSpot and GottaBeMobile, the PlayStation version was supposed to be updated for mods sometime in June, but whether this has happened by the time of this writing hasn’t been confirmed.

Player-created content has increased the longevity of many games in the past, Halflife and Skyrim are good examples with mods still being created for those games even years after their release. Console players have always been left out of the mod scene, but Bethesda seems to be planning to change that.

There had been rumors that Skyrim would be rebooted for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Express recently reported that Bethesda had successfully ported at least a portion of the game to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as part of the development process while working on Fallout 4.

However, executive producer for Bethesda Todd Howard said, “Don’t get your hopes up yet.”

The project was only an exercise performed for unspecified reasons, and Bethesda has not committed to bringing Skyrim to the current generation of consoles at that time.

Express published their article claiming the reboot to be a rumor only days before Bethesda confirmed that they are indeed working on a Skyrim reboot to be titled The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. Inquisitr reported on the Skyrim reboot during its E3 coverage.

“The E3 video of the Skyrim reboot shows incredible graphical improvements. The game will have fully remastered art and effects. Some of the graphical improvements include volumetric god rays, screen-space reflections, new snow and water shaders, and more.”

The company also confirmed that mods will be available for the Skyrim remake as well, showing that they are possibly looking to make user-modifiable content a regular feature of their games.

According to GameSpot, when asked what is next for Bethesda, Howard “talked about some ‘big and crazy’ projects,” but specifics were not mentioned.

With all work completed for Fallout 4 downloadable content, Bethesda can dedicate resources to a new project. It seems obvious now that the “big and crazy” project will be the Skyrim reboot.

Although Bethesda has not given exact release dates for Fallout 4‘s Vault-Tec Workshop and Nuka-World DLC, YouTube user MrMattyPlays showed what seems to be a Steam-leaked release date for both packages. If the dates are accurate, Vault-Tec will be available on July 26, and Nuka-World will be out on August 30.
