‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Star Ellie Kemper In Bizarre Russian Gum Ads

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actress made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and shared her experiences with acting in commercials, which she shared is quite different from acting in films and on television. As Colbert and Kemper shared experiences in creating ads, Ellie reveals a Russian commercial for Pyud Gum in which she uses superhero-like powers granted to her through chewing on the gum. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star also shared that she’s pregnant and confessed to making some odd sacrifices to ensure her baby will be intelligent.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Actress Ellie Kemper Shares Her Russian Commercial With Stephen Colbert

Entertainment Weekly reports that Ms. Kemper talked with Stephen Colbert about acting in commercials during her recent visit to The Late Show, and shared that she has been doing the extra work on commercials to help pay for a private school for her baby. Ellie revealed that she’s pregnant and, like any mother, wants to make sure she can afford the best for her baby’s future, so she says she’s been away doing foreign commercials.

Colbert was the first to share a mock up of himself modeling Korean man spanx, which led to The Late Show sharing a video ad featuring Ellie Kemper’s promotion for Pyud Gum. The commercial describes the gum as a flavor resembling the taste of “sturgeon” and “currant,” while Kemper visibly mashes the gum between her teeth. In the ad, Ellie is joined by two other beachgoers and, after chewing the gum, Kemper uses eye beams to reduce the other two into ants, which she then smashes beneath her foot.

Following the mocked up spot, Colbert comments that “you can really taste the sturgeon,” as he chomps on the gum.

“Oh Yeah,” adds the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actress. “And the private schools.”

Ellie Kemper Shares Her Secret Sacrifice For Giving Her Unborn Baby A Leg Up On Intelligence

Ellie’s visit to The Late Show was all about tastes, or so it would seem, because, as Romper reports, the expecting mother shared that she’s also stocking up on sardines. While the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star admits to hating the taste of sardines, she says that the fishy oil used in packaging the sardines could increase the unborn baby’s intelligence.

Never one to pass up a chance for an entertaining display, Colbert presented Ms. Kemper with a plate of sardines.

“I don’t like it!” Kemper said while squinting with disgust, as she devoured one of the fish. “But on the other hand, I can feel baby getting smarter!”

Ellie Kemper isn’t wrong about the effects of consuming fish oil. Studies have found that pregnant women can increase their child’s IQ by ingesting up to 12 ounces of seafood, such as salmon, tuna, and sardines, each week of the pregnancy. A single tin of sardines per week would meet that quota, giving the unborn baby a full serving of Omega 3 vitamins.

While sardines are good for the baby, Kemper revealed that she’s also indulging in her own favorite foods, which has included a steady supply of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Though she didn’t divulge a favorite flavor, Ellie did share that she and husband Michael Koman indulge in a pint of ice cream several nights a week.

“I’ve been having a pint every other night,” Kemper says. “I will probably fall asleep while I eat this because it’s going to be like a pavlovian response.”

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star didn’t share the gender of her baby, but with good reason. She doesn’t know. Kemper revealed that she and her husband have decided to keep their baby’s sex a secret, preferring to be surprised instead. That information is available, if the pressure becomes too much to bear.

“We are not finding out — isn’t it wonderful?” Kemper said. “We have it in an envelope, actually. But I haven’t looked!”
