Arguably one of the best Big Brother players to ever step foot in the house began a new adventure today–the goal of becoming the best father possible. In the wee hours of the morning, Dan Gheesling’s wife, Chelsea, gave birth to a little boy named, Desmond Daniel Gheesling. He weighed 6 pounds and 2 ounces. Dan updated his fans with the news of the birth of his first child and reported both mom and baby are doing great.

Dan Gheesling is best known for being a master of the reality TV show, Big Brother. He won Big Brother 10 and came back as a coach in Big Brother 14, coming in second place. He is the only player to play two entire seasons, and never face the chopping block. In all, he’s played over 180 days in the house and is revered as one of the best players to ever play the game.

On Sunday, E Online reports that Gheesling starts a new journey — only for this voyage, there is no book or study guide that can prepare you for the road ahead. Dan has clued his fans in his preparation to become a dad and has vowed to be the best father he can to little Desmond Daniel Gheesling.

“I think the best word is excitement and at the same time, I’m just doing my best to be a supportive responsible husband because what my wife is undertaking is a pretty big physical challenge. I definitely have a newfound respect for any new mom that goes through that because it’s tough.”

A few weeks ago, Dan revealed that he was looking forward to seeing his child’s face for the first time. Gheesling felt that would be a truly magical moment, one that he will cherish for the rest of his life. He explained it would be a moment that his little unit of two becomes a family of three. They decided not to find out the baby’s sex before the birth because they felt that was one of life’s last little surprises.

Gheesling noted that he and Chelsea felt strongly about supporting their child even if their interests differs from theirs.

“Whatever your child is drawn to—whether it’s music or sports or technology or whatever they’re drawn to—it’s our job to foster whatever they want to do. If my son or daughter want to do something that’s a 180 from what I want to do, I will be really supportive of that.”

As Dan and Chelsea prepare to spend sleepless night and go through countless diapers, the Big Brother fans poured in support and congratulated him (and Chelsea) on his new arrival. He took the time to thank the fans and his followers by saying they feel incredibly blessed to be at this place in their lives.

“Chelsea and I are very excited to welcome a baby into the world and there’s been a lot of support. We really appreciate it and feel blessed over the whole experience.”
