Romantic ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ Criminals Caught Smooching In This Candid Photo

Bonnie & Clyde got busted. At least that’s what it looks like from the photo above. Photographer Mo Gelber managed to snap this candid photo of a young couple kissing as they are escorted to a court house in Manhattan which falls under the category “so good you can’t make it up” (or in this case, stage it).

Gawker originally posted the photo snapped by photographer Mo Gelber while he was just hanging out by the Manhattan Criminal Court last month. He managed to snap this (I’ll say it) Pulitzer-worthy photo (well, if there was a good story to go with it, anyway) of two young criminal lovers, smiling and about to kiss like they don’t have a care in the world, despite being harangued in handcuffs by two sombre-looking police officers.

That thing I said about a good story to go with the photo? There actually is one.

Gelber submitted his “Bonnie & Clyde” photo to Ron Howard and Canon’s Project Imaginat10n photo contest. Though response to the photo was great, the contest actually threatened to reject the photo unless Gelber could identify the kissing criminals captured int he photo. Gelber then posted the photo to Facebook, and ultimately got in touch with 28-year-old Alexis Creque, the girl in the photo.

Creque told Gelber that the two were busted on a “nighttime graffiti spree,” and that the 26-year-old man in the photo is still in lock-up. She said that Gelber could use the photo, but only after “Clyde” is released from jail.

So now’s the part where we mount an internet campaign to free… whatever his name is. GO NUTS!
