Pennsylvania Couple Gives Daughter To Man As Thanks For Financial Assistance

A Pennsylvania couple has been accused of child endangerment after police claim they gave their 14-year-old daughter to a man who had helped them with financial struggles. The man the couple gave their daughter to has been charged with sexually assaulting the teenager who he had two children with, according to The Washington Post.

Police offers responded to a tip placed with the department. It was on Thursday when they found the 51-year-old man named Lee Kaplan in his Feasterville home where 12 girls ages ranging from six months to 18 years resided with him. The Washington Post reports that the affidavit signed by the girl’s father, Daniel Stoltzfus, claims that the couple gave their daughter to the man when he helped the family out of financial ruin. The father goes on to tell the police officer he did some research online and thought the couple giving their daughter to the man was legal.

Kaplan, the man who took the 14-year-old girl as a gift for his financial assistance from the Pennsylvania couple, is being charged with a number of different things including statutory sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault. Daniel Stoltzfus, the girl’s father, is being charged with conspiracy of statutory sexual assault and children endangerment. The mother of the girl is being charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Both the Pennsylvania couple and the man they gave their daughter to are being held on a $1 million bail. The Washington Post goes on to report that no lawyer information for any of the three individuals appears to be listed on court documents. The daughter the couple gave away, who is now 18, told officials she had two children with the man – a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old.

WGAL reports the initial complaint which sent police officers to the home was regarding health and safety concerns for the children living in the home. When the complaint was originally made, the man had told his neighbors he did not have any children living in the home. Outside of the sexual assault of the daughter the Pennsylvania couple gave to the man as a thanks for helping them with their financial troubles, police are not sure if any of the other children have been mistreated. It did, fortunately, not appear as if any of the children were malnourished.

The Pennsylvania couple claims they were going to lose their family farm until the man came out of nowhere and pulled them from their financial ruin. The couple also claims the other nine girls living in the home are their own children. The police, however, have not been able to locate the social security cards or birth certificates to confirm who the children are and whether or not the Pennsylvania couple really are the parents of all nine of them.

Police have placed all of the children in protective custody until they can sort out who they are and where they came from. Investigators are still hard at work as they try to piece together how exactly this man and this Pennsylvania couple came to meet each other.

Daily Mail reports the Pennsylvania couple who gave their daughter to the man were apparently living in the home with him and the 12 girls when the police found them, despite having an address 75 miles away from the man’s home. Police are not sure why the couple moved in with the man they gave their daughter to, what happened to their home, or how long the couple had been living with the man.

What do you think should happen to the man or the Pennsylvania couple who gave their daughter to him?
