Green Day was forced to cancel their show last night in Bologna, Italy after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was rushed to the hospital.
The band did not disclose any specifics about the hospital visit but did say that Armstrong’s doctors urged the Green Day frontman to take a few days to rest.
Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool posted a video on YouTube to explain the situation to fans and to apologize for cancelling the concert.
“We apologize profusely… Billy got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness. The doctors don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play today.”
“We’re beyond devastated… We’re as sad as you guys are. Billie’s extremely upset about it, and we’ll see you very soon.”
According to Greenday.com, the band left Europe last night to travel back to the United States for a set of shows. They will head to the United Kingdom this October but won’t make it to Italy until next Summer.
