Mariah Carey Talks Wedding Diet, But Will Nick Cannon Sign Off On Divorce?
Mariah Carey is looking forward to her wedding. But when it comes to her diet to look fabulous on her big day, Mariah is not quite so enthusiastic. Carey dished on her feelings about her diet and health plan with Entertainment Tonight.
“I’ve been pretty consistent with this bleak diet that I am on,” shared Mariah.
When it comes to motivation to sticking to that diet, Carey wants to slim down for her wedding dress. However, the famous singer also revealed that she’s looking at the big picture, desiring to get healthy to improve herself.
“It was the whole situation that made me want to try and be better for all,” she clarified. “And then we do have to get fittings and dresses!”
“There’s a lot on my plate,” admitted Carey.
In addition, Mariah has the important role of mommy. Talking about Monroe and Moroccan, her beloved twins, the singer confessed that her 5-year-old son has a new obsession.
“Boobies and butts,” summed up Carey. “It’s inappropriate, but they’re obsessed with these things at that age! He’ll be like, ‘What’s the password?’ and you’ll expect ‘please’ or ‘thank you,’ you know, a normal password, but he’s just like, ‘boobies and butts!’ ”
“She wants to have an hourglass figure so she can have a very tight, sexy, figure-hugging gown,” revealed a source cited by Brides.
“Mariah says she has to be very disciplined because she wants to take James’ breath away when he sees her for the first time in her wedding gown.”
That source also revealed that Carey’s diet is protein-based, consisting of five meals spaced throughout the day. She has a protein shake or smoothie in the morning, and the protein-rich meals emphasize choices such as grilled chicken, lean beef, or grilled shrimp with asparagus.
Among Mariah’s favorites are chicken salad with light mayo and sushi. For snacks, the singer occasionally enjoys Brie on low-fat crackers.
While Carey is focused on shedding for the wedding, everything may not be going quite so smoothly behind the scenes. TMZ cites sources claiming that Mariah actually has a problem with finalizing the divorce. She and Nick Cannon split in August, 2014, followed by Nick’s filing for divorce that December.
The key issues have already been worked out. Mariah and Nick agreed upon joint custody and the settlement of property in December, 2014. But despite achieving a consensus on those priorities, Cannon has refused to sign off on the final divorce papers.
Why the repeated refusal? The insiders told TMZ that although Cannon desired to let go of the marriage, he hasn’t let go of his love for Carey. In addition, Nick opposes Mariah’s marriage to James Packer, her fiancé.
Rather than feel flattered by her estranged husband’s desire to hold onto their marriage, Carey is annoyed, and wants the divorce to be finalized, claim the sources.
But Cannon told Extra that those reports that he is refusing to sign off on the divorce are not true.
“Me and Mariah get along great, and it’s a process, nobody is holding nothing up. Why would I hold it up? I want her to be happy,” emphasized Nick.
Cannon blamed the media for the speculation.
“There’s nothing to tell… the media has a problem of sensationalism,” he declared, praising Carey for her “beautiful spirit.”
In addition, Nick emphasized the importance of prioritizing their children in planning their future and dealing with the past.
“We put the kids first,” added the America’s Got Talent host.
