‘NCIS’ Season 14 Spoilers: Show To Get A Complete Reset With Tony DiNozzo’s Exit

NCIS Season 14 may be months away, but showrunner Gary Glasberg has already confirmed that it will get a complete reset. It will be needed after Tony DiNozzo’s exit at the end of Season 13.

Losing two favorite characters over the last few years has been hard for the show. It is unknown how fans will take to NCIS Season 14 after the loss of DiNozzo. The only good thing is that at least Michael Weatherly moved on out of choice and wasn’t due to being forced out by any behind-the-scene actions.

Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette, and many others are sticking with NCIS for the next season. There are plenty of familiar faces and loveable characters for fans, and each one has his or her own fan base. This means that the show can benefit from this and move forward. According to Glasberg, the intention is there to move forward. This year will be a complete reset to allow them to do that.

The show was once all about mystery, with funny moments thrown in. It lost its way in that in recent years, but it will get it back for Season 14. There will be some light-hearted moments, Movie News Guide reports.

It is unclear what these light-hearted moments will be and how the show can do this. DiNozzo offered a lot of comedy relief over the years due to the nature of his character. Whether it was his jokes against McGee or the amount he would be slapped over the back of the head by Gibbs, he was the one many turned to when a laugh was needed. How can NCIS Season 14 get that without him there?

There will be new characters coming to the show. The person taking DiNozzo’s place is yet to be confirmed, but NCIS Season 13 saw the introduction of Tess Monroe and Clayton Reeves of the FBI and MI-6 respectively. Either one of these could be recruited by Gibbs to join the team as the latest probie, the way everyone else was recruited by him.

Glasberg has hinted that both characters could become series regulars for the upcoming year. He says that the new characters would add twists for the upcoming season but hasn’t shared any extra details on those twists.

There are also speculations that FBI Agent Fornell will join the cast as a regular in Season 14. He has been a recurring character from the beginning, and the character almost died at the end of Season 13 due to a gun shot. Fans weren’t happy at the idea, and it now looks like he will come into the show in a healing capacity, possibly helping the NCIS team.

Gibbs has certainly marked Monroe and Reeves as potential replacements for DiNozzo. He is always looking at the qualities of people, both as individuals, team players, and members of their respective forces.

The question will be how the rest of the NCIS team take to having a new member. It won’t be too hard for Emily Bishop, but Ducky, Abby, and McGee all worked with Tony for at least a decade. There are suggestions that Gibbs will have to push them to give the new team members a chance in a similar way he had to push DiNozzo to give Ziva a chance when she first joined the team after Caitlin Todd’s death at the end of Season 2.

There are a lot of elements unknown about NCIS Season 14 right now. It looks like Glasberg wants to bring some of the earlier elements of the show back when it returns in fall 2016.
