Columbus Short Jailed For 30 Days Due To Drug Use

Troubled actor Columbus Short has been jailed for thirty days due to drug use. According to Us Weekly, he violated his probation, which was from an assault case.

In addition to his 30 days in jail, Short will have to attend drug rehab for six months, as the tests that he took showed strains of marijuana in his system. The THC levels were said to be elevated each week he took the drug test.

The lawyer tried to get this dismissed by arguing that Columbus Short’s sister had passed away a week prior, but that didn’t convince the judge to go light on Short for violating his probation.

This will be the second time Columbus Short will serve time. The first is when he served less than a week behind bars. Back in February of 2014, the actor was arrested on charges of misdemeanor spousal battery against his wife Tanee McCall-Short. Soon after the charges were filed, she divorced the former Scandal actor.

His second arrest came when he knocked out a man at a restaurant in Los Angeles. At the time, he was on one of the most popular series on television, but due his recent troubles with the law, he was dropped from Scandal.

The last we heard from Columbus Short, he was trying to right his wrongs by coming clean during interviews about his struggle with substance abuse. At the time, the actor said the following.

“I was struggling with drugs. I had a lot on my plate, and you know, I was using unhealthy ways to kind of self-medicate and deal with a lot of heavy duty stuff in my life … I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and I just lost myself back then.”

As for coping with his struggles while being on the most popular show on television, Short said during those three years, he was protected.

“They protected me, and they held me down … They just wanted me to get my stuff together. Sometimes the bottom has to be dropped out for you to really get it. So I moved to Atlanta. I’ve been living there for … five-and-a-half months, and it’s just been great. It’s been life changing.”

He also said that losing his friend Lee Thompson Young of Rizzoli & Isles fame didn’t help matters either. Young took his life in August of 2013 after battling with bipolar disorder. The actor’s family started the Lee Thompson Young Foundation to raise awareness about mental illness and to remove the stigma surrounding it.

As for Columbus Short, it looks like his life isn’t going too well in the romance department either. His current wife, Karrine “Superhead” Steffans, took to Instagram to put Short on blast for allegedly cheating on her. In a picture of Short, with all of his clothes strewn all over the room, Karrine tags two women and captions the photo with the following.

“Somebody come get @officialshort cheating a– and all his — What about you @aida006..still want him? And @candicemb..you — my husband..want him?”

This invited many to make comments on Instagram about their private life. One user wrote the following.

“A woman’s scorn is a b****. When someone hurts-(betrays), it causes a devastating effect, and this happens. Hang in there, don’t let no man break your character. #thistooshallpass.”

Do you think Columbus Short will learn from the error of his ways?
