Thomas Ravenel On Having Two Children With Kathryn Dennis, Doesn’t Rule Out More

On the latest episode of Southern Charm that aired on Monday night, Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis welcomed their second child into the world together. Both Thomas and Kathryn seemed very happy and positively giddy in the moments prior to her giving birth. As their first child, daughter Kensington Calhoun Ravenel, napped while being looked after by the nanny, they drove to the hospital holding hands. After their son was born, Kathryn was shown tenderly cradling him while Thomas proudly stood by. Like their daughter’s name, their son’s name, St. Julien Rembert Ravenel, honors both of their family’s legacies.

Thomas and Kathryn’s tender moments just prior to and after their son’s birth was in stark contrast to many of their other scenes. Throughout the show’s history, they have often been shown fighting, accusing one another of bad behavior, and at each other’s throats in general. They have also frequently attacked one another on social media. Their tumultuous on-and-off relationship has fueled the show’s three seasons. So it isn’t surprising that many viewers are shocked that Kathryn and Thomas would have two children together. Didn’t Thomas learn after the first pregnancy to use protection?

That’s exactly the question Thomas Ravenel was asked when he appeared on Whitney Sudler-Smith and Shep Rose’s web series, Shep and Whitney After Dark. On a recent episode, co-stars Whitney and Shep welcomed Thomas to the bar and asked about his children.

Shep first asked Thomas how his life is going now that he has two children with Kathryn Dennis. Thomas gave off an exasperated sigh and indicated that it’s a lot of work.

“Ummmmm…you two will not know the meaning of responsibility until you have your own. Then we’ll talk.”

Whitney then asked Thomas a viewer question: “Was birth control ever taught in school?”

Thomas said that he does know about birth control, pointing out that he was child-free for many years. He then admitted that he didn’t take any measure to prevent Kathryn from getting pregnant because he was open to being a father.

“Yes it was! I know about birth control. I went 50 years without a kid. But at this point I said, ‘You know let’s leave it to the fates.’ It’s like, hey, I’m 50, if I have a kid [shrugs], so be it, you know?”

When Shep asked if he’s done having kids now that he has a child of both sexes, Thomas didn’t rule out more children.

“You never know! You never know! Somebody said go get a vasectomy…I said ‘No one’s clipping down there.'”

On the Season 2 reunion show, Kathryn accused Thomas of not emotionally and financially supporting her and Kensie and cheating on her. Yet there was one moment during the reunion show when both Kathryn and Thomas were on the same page. When Whitney Sudler-Smith accused Kathryn of getting pregnant just for the show, Kathryn quickly denied the accusation. Shep Rose added that on the first season, Kathryn and Thomas decided together to try to get pregnant. Cameran Eubanks agreed that Thomas did want a baby. Craig Conover said that Thomas admitted to not using protection and knew that Kathryn wasn’t on birth control. Thomas piped up to admit that he wanted a child.

“Well I’ll take a mea culpa on that one.”

Yet Kathryn is now accusing Thomas of not being a good father. In an interview with Amy Phillips on the SiriusXM radio show Reality Checked on Tuesday, Kathryn said that Thomas hasn’t seen their two children in months and isn’t providing financial support.

“He hasn’t called me, talked to our kids, seen our kids in months. He hasn’t given me money. So that’s kind of why I’m asking for his help and support.”

Kathryn added that Thomas promised that he’ll take care of everything when they had children.

“He told me we were gonna have children and I wouldn’t have to worry about anything and then he totally went off the grid.”

Is Thomas Ravenel perhaps being prevented from seeing the children by Kathryn Dennis? As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Thomas last month complained about not seeing the children for many weeks and accused Kathryn of using them as pawns. He even claimed that she refused to let his mother and sister in when they dropped by to visit the children.
