As reported by Entertainment Weekly, the odd “Tape Face” man came onto the stage causing quite the curious stir among both the crowd and judges. Once the judges on the America’s Got Talent panel began speaking to “Tape Face,” he motioned toward the tape on his face to let them know that he would not speak throughout his audition.

Ultimately, “Tape Face” stood there for several uncomfortable seconds prior to pulling out two oven mitts that had been decorated with black eyes. More uncomfortable seconds passed as the crowd wondered what would come next. One woman voiced concern, saying she was afraid since she could not anticipate what would be “Tape Face” man’s next move.

Even “Tape Face” seemed a bit anxious as he waited for his music to cue up and begin. And once that music began, the routine set forth by “Tape Face” was put into motion. As soon as the song titled “Endless Love” began and “Tape Face” motioned with the oven mitts to sing along with each part of the duet, the America’s Got Talent crowd fell in love with his act.

It was the season premiere episode of the show — and “Tape Face” set it off with a bang. The dramatic eyes of “Tape Face” helped to bring an element of drama and mystery to the program. As “Tape Face” finished his Lionel Richie and Diana Ross duet, he brought the “Endless Love” drama to a close by allowing the oven mitts to kiss one another dramatically while he looked away from the amorous couple.

Even Simon Cowell seemed delighted by “Tape Face,” a feat that isn’t always common with the cranky judge. “Tape Face” brought a smile to Simon’s face, who at first seemed as bemused and confused as the rest of the crowd. Nick Cannon donned tape on his face as well while watching “Tape Face” from the wings of the stage.

After “Endless Love” ended, “Tape Face” turned his routine into one that closely mimicked a scene from The Artist.

As seen in the below scene from the movie, a suit coat on a rack comes to life when a woman imagines a man in the suit. Placing her arm in the suit, it appears as if two people are dancing and laughing and hugging.

“Tape Man” obviously borrowed inspiration from the famous movie scene when he next used Chris De Burgh’s “Lady in Red” song as the background music to his next routine. Featuring a red dress, “Tape Face” danced and felt himself up, pretending to be a man trying to grab onto the woman in red’s backside while she moved his hand up.

Howie Mandel thought the whole “Tape Face” routine was brilliant.

The YouTube description lists the man as “Tape Face,” without telling viewers the real name of “Tape Face” man.

“Oddball mime act wins over the audience and judges with strange performance. Check out Tape Face.”

The reactions to the video prove a wide variety of thoughts about “Tape Face” man from viewers.

“Part-time serial killer. Full-time comedian.”

“This is plagiarism of Slava Polunin’s ‘SnowShow’ 1989!”

“Am I the only who thinks he’s cute?”

“The headless woman in red was very good.”

“His name is the boy with tape on his face, thank you.”
