‘The Vampire Diaries’ Candice King Believes Klaroline Would Never Work, Puts Focus On Steroline

Apologies to all the Klaroline shippers out there, but it looks like the ship will never happen. According to The Vampire Diaries’ Candice King, who plays Caroline on the show, the relationship would never work, and she is putting her hopes on Steroline working out.

While Klaus and Caroline were never really a thing on the show, Klaus has always had feelings for the blonde vampire. He made decisions with her opinions and feelings in mind, and even Stefan noticed that there was something that he felt for her.

It has been a while since the two were on screen together, apart from that one phone call during The Vampire Diaries Season 7, but there was always hope that Klaroline would work out. Fans rejoiced at the phone call and were even happier when Caroline went to New Orleans to see Klaus for help dealing with Rayna and Damon’s troubles during the three-year time jump. When she found out Klaus hadn’t been seen in three years, she turned around and went back home.

With all that hope, fans have even found ways that she could return for Klaus. He is currently missing — bricked up by Marcel — and nobody but Marcel really knows where he is. The Mikaelson family is in dire straits, with only Hayley left to help them. Caroline could come to New Orleans to save Klaus and his family, reigniting that flame.

Unfortunately for the Klaroline shippers, it looks like there are no plans for that to happen on The Vampire Diaries or The Originals. King told TV Line that she doesn’t think a relationship between Klaus and Caroline would work.

She even said that she finds the ship amusing, especially with people on social media. The actress hasn’t seen Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus, in a long time, unlike so many of the other actors on The Vampire Diaries. They only had the one phone call last season, but that hasn’t stopped fans begging to see the two together again.

To make it even more amusing, King points out that the two never really dated. That doesn’t stop shippers, though. While Damon and Bonnie have never dated, there are plenty of people who would like to see the two together, giving them the ship name Bamon. There were already Steroline shippers long before the relationship became canon on the show.

For King, the focus is on Caroline and Stefan next season. It is time for the two to have some sort of normalcy, and she wants to see them go on an actual date. While they went on the odd date in The Vampire Diaries Season 7, they don’t count because she was pregnant with the twins.

However, King has also said that Caroline will struggle with the decision to leave Dallas, which means leaving her family. While she admitted that she never loved Alaric in the same way she loved Stefan, she loves the twins and will find it very hard to leave them behind. The good news is that Alaric accepted Caroline wanted to be with Stefan and has left the door open for her to see the girls as often as she would like.

Klaroline fans won’t be happy right now, but that doesn’t stop the dream of seeing the two together. There are plenty of fan fictions involving the two together. Julie Plec has already said that there is room for more crossovers between The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and there is hope that that will all happen next season. After all, it is looking like it will be the final season of The Vampire Diaries.
