Erika Jayne Interview: Will The Breakout ‘Real Housewives’ Star Return For ‘RHOBH’ Season 7?

Erika Jayne was the breakout star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 6. But will the 7th season of the show go on without her? In an interview with MTV News, Erika Jayne said the hit Bravo reality show has opened a lot of doors for her, but she stopped short of saying whether or not that door is shut now.

With production for RHOBH currently on hiatus, Erika said she has plenty of other projects to keep her busy.

“You know, I have more music, I have bigger shows,” Jayne said. “Who knows what happens with Housewives? I will say this, what a great opportunity to have been on the show, and the doors that it’s opened for me, and I have nothing but great things to say about the show. I just kind of feel like I’ll always be creating as Erika Jayne, and right now I just feel like the sky’s the limit.”

But when asked point blank if she’ll be returning to the show next season, the apologetic pop star said she can’t say if she will be on the show or not.

“I really can’t,” Erika said. “I just can’t. I’m sorry. I wish I could, but I can’t!”

Real Housewives fans first met Erika Jayne last season and she quickly became a fan favorite thanks to her over-the-top personality. Erika made no apologies for her lavish lifestyle (girlfriend owns her own private plane and has a chapel in her mansion!) or her bad girl pop star persona. In fact, in an interview with PopCrush, Jayne said she just tried to be herself while on the show.

“All you can really be in these situations is yourself,” Erika said. “And it’s true, I had never watched Housewives before I was on the show, and going into the experience was very ‘what you see is what you get.’ You’re actually watching the experience for the first time. What you’re seeing is me reacting authentically to the situations unfolding.”

Erika said it was “nice” to hear that people considered her the breakout of the show in a season that included longtime regulars like Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards as well as fellow newcomer Kathryn Edwards.

“It’s always nice to be complimented and to have people appreciate your performance, for lack of a better word,” Jayne said. “It’s nice to see that people were entertained and found me funny and they enjoyed the journey with me.”

Still, Erika Jayne squashed any idea that she became instant best friends with her fellow Housewives stars. While she has a close friendship with show alum Yolanda Foster, Jayne admitted on the show that she doesn’t have many female friends. Erika even found that out the hard way last season when Kathryn Edwards repeated a private conversation they had about Lisa Vanderpump—to Vanderpump!

“True friendship or true respect is earned,” Erika told PopCrush of the RHOBH dynamic. “It’s not given. You create real friendships through a growth process. It’s not just, oh hi, we’re friends! That’s very childlike. True adult friendships take time, understanding, and it’s a plant that needs to be watered and tended to so that it blossoms.”

Casting for the next season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills should be announced soon, and it would be a shock if Erika Jayne isn’t on the cast list. When a Twitter follower asked Bravo producer Andy Cohen if he would be getting rid of Jayne next season, the Watch What Happens Live host answered with an emphatic “No way!”

That means if Erika Jayne doesn’t return to Real Housewives next season, it’s because she’s doing things on her own terms—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
