Ewan McGregor: ‘Fargo’ Season 3 Has 2 New Roles For Him

Ewan McGregor is no stranger to film, but his appearances on the television screen are rare, so fans of the hit show Fargo were thrilled to find out that he would be playing a leading part in Season 3. Not only does Ewan McGregor have a leading role – he’ll actually be playing two parts in Fargo Season 3. He’ll be playing brothers, and no, they are not twins.

For Ewan McGregor, Fargo Season 3 will be a change of routine. He usually does film, starring in Star Wars and Trainspotting. But this is an even more extreme change. McGregor will again be joining fellow actors like Tom Hanks, Michael J. Fox, and Mike Myers, who have played two or more roles in films. Some of the roles have been twins, but McGregor will actually be playing brothers in Fargo Season 3.

Ewan McGregor has played dual roles in the past, though. In Last Days in the Desert, McGregor played both Jesus and Satan.

He said that “Working on the role made him realize the exact rhythms of his own speech.”

According to Deadline, the two characters to be played by Ewan McGregor in Fargo, Season 3 are Emmit Stussy and Ray Stussy.

“Emmit Stussy is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. A handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man, he sees himself as an American success story. His slightly younger brother, on the other hand, is more of a cautionary tale. Balding and pot-bellied, Ray is the kind of guy who peaked in high school. Now a parole officer, he has a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he’s been dealt, and he blames Emmit for his misfortunes.”

This description certainly makes the roles sound challenging. Since the two characters are not twins, McGregor will have to go through a lot of costume and makeup changes to pull this off well. They will look different, and of course, they will have different mannerisms and characteristics since they have differing outlooks on life and experiences.

Entertainment Weekly sets the scene for Fargo in Season 3, saying,

Previously, Fargo show runner Noah Hawley said the new season would be set in 2010, a few years after the events in season 1.

Hawley has also hinted that there would be at least one character from past seasons that may come back, but it has not been announced who that character is or who would play the character.

Fans of Fargo are looking forward to Season 3 and are excited at the prospect of seeing more of Ewan McGregor.

Many think that this is McGregor’s first television role, but he actually started off on television. In 1993, a young McGregor was seen in the Channel 4 series Lipstick on Your Collar. Later that same year, he appeared in a BBC show with Rachael Wiesz. It was called The Scarlet and The Black. After a few smaller parts over the next years, he finally had his big breakthrough role in 1996 when he played Mark Renton, a heroin addict, in the movie Trainspotting.

Recently, he finished filming for the movies Jane Got a Gun and Our Kind of Traitor. And of course, no one will forget his appearance in the Star Wars movies as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Fargo will not be his only television role in the near future. Fans of Ewan McGregor can look forward to seeing him in the television movie, The Land of Sometimes, where he will play the Wish Collector.
