Halo 4 Campaign ‘Comparable’ To Previous Titles

Earlier on in the week, an Achievement list for Halo 4, 343 Industries’ first Halo title since Bungie passed the torch, started making the rounds. Normally there isn’t a whole lot to see in these leaks, but there was something that gave some fans cause for concern.

After going over the Halo 4 Achievement list, fans noticed that there are only be eight missions in the game, which would appear to mean that the campaign length has received a considerable downgrade from just about every other Halo title apart from ODST.

Fortunately, that doesn’t appear to be the case. In a post over on NeoGAF under the name “Stinkles,” 343 Industries boss Frank O’Connor had this to say (via OXM): “Number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign. It’s a Halo sized campaign. PLUS [Spartan Ops] etc.”

343 Industries’ David Ellis also chimed in on the situation, pointing out that the studio’s “Spartan Ops” episodic content by itself will be longer than ODST.

“[Spartan Ops] season alone is longer than [Halo 3: ODST],” Ellis (lybertryboy) added. “Spartan Ops and Campaign are completely separate teams. As Frank mentioned earlier, the main campaign is substantial and will compare favorably with previous entries in the series.”

In case you’ve forgotten, Halo 4‘s Spartan Ops mode takes the place of Firefight, which Bungie introduced back with Halo 3: ODST. The episodic content can be played either solo or with three other friends with each player taking on the role of a Spartan in the “Majestic Squad” aboard the UNSC Infinity.

Halo 4 releases exclusively on the Xbox 360 November 6.
