Ashley Graham is going from swimsuit model to music video vixen. The gorgeous Size-16 model stars alongside Joe Jonas in the new DNCE music video "Toothbrush." Ahead of the release of the video, Billboard posted a sneak peek of the steamy summertime track that shows Jonas lounging in bed with Ashley Graham.Jonas also posted clips from the video on his social media pages, which shows him dancing on a rooftop with Graham. The video was filmed at the O Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, and the clip is already taking social media by storm. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ashley Graham said she is a huge fan of Jonas and DNCE.
"This is my first music video and I've been a fan since 'Cake By the Ocean,' which I can't get out of my mind," Ashley said. "It's such a great song and they're such amazing, interesting people individually, and I'm just happy to be here."
Ashley, who is married to Justin Ervin, also joked about her steamy scenes with the Jonas brother, saying her hubby is all cool with it.
"You can't be with an insecure man if you're Ashley Graham!" she joked.News that Ashley Graham is starring in the music video had the women of The Talk talking. The CBS chat fest devoted a segment to Graham's video victory, with guest co-host Carnie Wilson giving Jonas a standing ovation for finally breaking through some of the barriers in the music industry.
"I have been waiting for 26 years for this to happen since I've been in this business," the Wilson Phillips singer said. "Thank you, Joe Jonas. Thank you!Ashley Graham made headlines earlier this year when she became the first plus-size model to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit issue. Graham has been vocal about the prejudices she faces in the industry and even went toe to toe with '70s supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, who criticized her size.
Still, Ashley Graham has been vocal about the fact that she doesn't like being described as a "plus-sized"model. Last summer, Ashley told Entertainment Tonight there's a negative connotation with being a full-figured model.
"The things that I don't necessarily like about it is all the negative stigmatisms that go with the word plus size – you're fat, you're lazy, you have no drive, no determination, you're constantly eating," Ashley said. "Honey, I work out. I work out three days a week. I lift. I do barre. I do it all. It's the stereotypes. That's what I really don't like. I am me. Take it or leave it."While she doesn't like people to focus on her size, there's no doubt that Ashley Graham is now a music video trailblazer, because most videos feature super skinny models and actresses. DNCE previously teamed up with model Gigi Hadid, who directed the band's "Cake By the Ocean" clip, and that video also featured a diverse group of women. But Ashley Graham is clearly the star of the band's new music video.
DNCE is Joe Jonas' follow-up at to his career-making group with his brothers, Kevin and Nick, which included a Disney Channel show back in the day. The new group also features bassist-keyboardist Cole Whittle, guitarist JinJoo, and drummer Jack Lawless.DNCE's "Toothbrush" is the second single from the band's 2015 EP, Swaay, and it will be included in the band's full-length album due in August.
