‘Arrow’ Recap — Season 4, Episode 22: ‘Lost in the Flood’

Not unlike fellow “Arrowverse” series The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, as the season finale of Arrow is just around the corner, someone dies and the scene is set for a big show-down. NOTE: The following contains spoilers for the episode of Arrow (Season 4, Episode 22) that the CW originally aired on May 18 titled, “Lost in the Flood.”

Before the Season 4 finale of Arrow, Felicity Smoak deals with the revelation of family secrets as she hacks alongside her father. Queen and Diggle must convince a brainwashed Thea that she doesn’t want to kill Oliver, and Damien asks for help from the most unlikely party after Anarky kills his wife and Rubicon is taken offline.

At the conclusion of this week’s Arrow, everything is set in place for an epic season finale.

Drama surrounds Felicity

Stopping Damien and H.I.V.E. by taking Rubicon offline is no small task. Luckily for super-hacker Felicity, her father is dark-web legend Noah Kuttler. Even though a blast from Felicity’s past, Cooper Seldon, is working for Darhk, the father-daughter team is too much and Rubicon is successfully taken offline.

When Noah is confronted by Felicity’s mother Donna, however, the ex-boyfriend-hacker-drama seems negligible. Felicity would learn that her father didn’t abandon her as Donna had always led her to believe. Rather, her mother didn’t trust her father and left him to try to protect Felicity. The juxtaposition of Donna and Noah is pointed out by Curtis, and the show paints a very clear picture of how Team Arrow’s resident hacker is an obvious mesh of both parents.

Green Arrow, Damien Darhk and Anarky

Oliver and John are able to get Thea out of the Ark after they help her overpower the H.I.V.E. drugs that were making her want to kill the Green Arrow. Anarky, who had broken into the Ark on last week’s episode, captured Darhk’s wife and child and held them hostage. While the daughter was saved, Anarky took the life of Ruvé Adams.

As the show was ending, Damien stormed in on Felicity, Donna and Curtis to let them know that he would be needing their assistance. With nothing left to lose, he is prepared to let the world burn. Felicity’s response to his demand for assistance is simply, “go to hell.” Darhk’s response was that it would be necessary: he was bringing hell to them.

Next week: the Season Finale of Arrow

As always, a preview/trailer for next week’s episode has already been released. This just happens to be the trailer for the season finale of Arrow, which will be joined by Supergirl on the CW next season.
